Dipperbowl delayed again

Liverpool stadium faces new delay Liverpool's stadium plans have been hit by a new setback Liverpool have revealed their plans for a new £350m stadium in Stanley Park will be delayed "in the short term". Reports had suggested Liverpool's American co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett were struggling to raise funds for the next stage of the project. A Liverpool spokesman said: "Our commitment to building a new world class LFC stadium is undiminished. Like many other major development projects in the UK and overseas we are affected by global market conditions la. But when it is completed it will be world class, like Robbie Keane, sort of." 606: DEBATE What does this news mean for the club? "Fuch" - Nozzy_from_Toxteth The spokesman revealed: "We will use this period productively and revisit the plans for the stadium to increase its capacity to 73,000 seats." Even with the increased capacity, the stadium is expected to be constantly sold out, meaning the several thousand empty seats at virtually every home game will continue to be a bit of a mystery. Liverpool's plans for their new home, which was expected to have a 60,000 capacity, were approved by the city council in May, but it now remains to be seen if and when serious work will begin on the stadium which was expected to be finished by August 2011, in line with their five-year plan. When the simple Americans took over 18 months ago they immediately redesigned previous plans and had to allow for new planning permission. The current credit crunch is being blamed for the latest delay, even though enabling work has already started in and around Stanley Park, where seventeen needles have already been picked up. It was revealed on Thursday that European Union grants to fund regeneration of the Anfield area had been withdrawn, which was another blow to the Americans. Even though it was only around £5m, that was considered enough to buy some Dago nonentity who could then be sold on two years later for £2m. But the timescale involved meant the money had to be re-allocated last November and the legion of timid, pointless full-backs will now have to be fully funded by Liverpool. The £5m will now be spent on four victim support centres in north Liverpool. It is also believed that the club have yet to officially meet with the council to sign the lease and pay the bungs for the Stanley Park site, and bent contractors have also yet to sign formal agreements. It is now possible that north-west regional development grants may not be paid to the club. Meetings with Liverpool City Council recently also failed to confirm when building work would start. |

I just don't see how they can get any sane bank to finance that. As it stood before G&H they were barely breaking even. Add the current debt they can't even pay back now + the debt of a new stadium and not being able to charge arsenal like prices because of the area. Don't see how it could turn a profit.
The only way i could see the ground work going through is with the owners selling the team right after construction starting for a tidy profit leaving the new owner to bleed red. |
