Easiest position to excel at?

What position, in your opinion, is the easiest to excel at?

A Simple question with a not so simple answer.

I'd probably say.... defender, because if you have the athletic ability (Micah Richards).... you might not necessarily need anything else, i.e. football brain/technical ability

Depends on your instinct.

If you are smart enough, even without much skills a striker is easy to excel in.

I find the hardest to be the midfield, especially the central mid.

Have speed can make you a striker and winger easily.

Winger and to some extent full back as well. A half decent touch and some pace and there you have it - a decent winger.

I'd say fullback, especially if in your team, you're not required to support the attack so much.

If you are left-footed you will probably find it easier to excel as there will be less competition.

I used to be fairly good on the wing but not anymore

I mean you come at a time that You know all there is to know about football, so there's no sense us going down that same old road again. To beat this guy, you need speed - you don't have it. And your knees can't take the pounding, so hard running is out. And you got arthritis in your neck, and you've got calcium deposits on most of your joints, so sparring is out. So, what we'll be calling on is good ol’ fashion blunt force trauma. Horsepower. Heavy-duty, cast-iron, piledriving shots that will have to hurt so much they'll rattle his ancestors. Every time you hit him with a shot, it's gotta feel like he tried kissing the express train. Yeah! Let's start building some hurtin' bombs!

Full back.

You can go quite far as a fullback with stamina, determination and a good tackle. At least it used to be like that.

Full backs get better and better these days, and they now need a good technique, pace and a good cross as well.

I reckon central midfield to be the hardest by far. You need to be more or less complete and be gifted forward while also a tough defender.

Personally think , it would be DM, e.g Flamini , all he needs to learn is to tackle and run 10 miles and be like a Pit Bull. (my Personal opinion)

I agree but you need an extremely high level of fitness to play in cm, the Makelele role would probably be easier to play but harder to excel at.

It's when you play at the back, well behind the front 2.

The hardest is probably also the easiest - the striker

In on sense, week after week, they can play without performing their primary function and that is scoring and they are excused.

Take any other position on the pitch and I doubt that any other player would be allowed to play continuously for half-a-season without being at their best.

I'd say right-back.

Just because it seems to be a position that centre-backs and midfielders can slot into without much trouble.

Makelele/Masc type role - just fannying around in front of the back four, and behind the midfield.

They hardly ever get noticed, or blamed.

Either full back or defensive midfield.

Any decent youngster would look good at Full Back, so long as they have a bit of pace, some guts, and get protection from the midfield.

Defensive midfield all you have to do is run about a lot, and foul some people...preferably people no one likes, then the fans love you, even if it turns out you're not very good

Being the 'big target man' is probably the easiest job in football, as long as you're big enough and aren't afraid of getting a few knocks.

Not bad, but I hardly think it's a position you would excel
