I notice- the best player in the world-Mr. Cristiano Ronaldo Santos Aveira - has not been selected.

And did I hear someone say he will be irreplaceable if he left us for Bernabeu?

You can't really argue with a lot of them but I honestly don't think Arshavin deserves to be included. He only played 3 games, 2 of which is was pretty impressive, the other one he was anonymous.

Move Podolski into the forward category and add Ardan Turan into the midfielders.

Preposterous, there should not be an Italian within 50m of that list.

Buffon was great, kept them in it with that penalty save.

If not Ronaldo then I would have thought Deco would have slipped in to the midfield list. I also agree with the Turan shout.

He was the shittiest player in the Spain team. He constantly stopped the attacks and he also kept giving the ball away repeatedly.

Pepe, Bosingwa and Lahm do not deserve to be there.

I would have said Pepe was more deserving than the other two. He looked a good player most of the time.

He looked pretty average didn't he? Inclusion by default as champions I guess. But wouldn't argue about the rest

I was generally impressed with Puyol - made a few mistakes, but then again made some key tackles and interventions - never gives up, 100% effort and commitment.

He's the Spanish John Terry. Overrated because of his commitment and because he makes last ditch tackles, but he is becoming much more mistake prone in recent years. Doesn't deserve to be in there.

Agreed. He's always into have-a-go-hero stuff because he's fucked up or is the wrong postion to start off with. Very poor all tournament.

No Schweinsteiger??? What 2 goals and 4 assists or so, deserves a midfield shout out with the best of them, would be in my starting XI for the tournament.

Modric did nothing for me this tournament but I still think he'll look good this season...

I'd agree. All three were good going forward. But defensively they were an absolute shambles. I think Bosingwa will be found out at Chelsea.

To be fair he scored and was involved in all Porto's significant attacking moves. So was Deco though and they went out earlier than expected.

Kazim Richards was probably the best right winger in the tournament. Should have been on there.

Which doesn't make him better than any of players named in the squad, fact is that he was below his usual standards and was poor in the game where they were eliminated, against Germany. He only played three games in the competition, and I wasn't overly impressed with him against Turkey either - he wasn't their best player certainly. As for Czechs game, he did very well there, scored a decisive goal, but can we name him in 23-man squad on that basis? Nope.

Playing for United and being in a shout for Ballon d'Or doesn't make his Euro performances good enough.
