The "Fair fucks to David Beckham on reaching his 100th Cap" Thread
A great servant to his club and Country throughout his career. Take away the fact he was an above average player (but no where near brillant) and his showbiz lifestyle he has produced some fantastic moments which will always be remembered
I hope he goes on to make more then 100 as I think he can offer more to England and was excellent for Capello in his last 10 games at madrid. ![]() "David Beckham - I did Alright for myself" |

One of my fav players. I maintain that he is still a very important player for England. If you´re looking to beat a decent team in modern football, you need that bit of technical excellence that Becks posesses in his pin-point passes.

He needs to get himself a Good English Club - I am sure if SGE went to anywhere other then City he would have landed there - A London club would be his choice I am sure.
However apart from West Ham or Spurs (commercial sense) I cann't see him go to the likes of Arsenal or Chelsea |

Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Schmeichel and Keane were all better players, yet Beckham is the one with all the fame. He's Idolised in the media, and we all know that it has nothing to do with his football.

he deserves it. Hope he gets a standing applause when he comes on/gets substituted.
Hopefully he'll get more than 100 but I doubt he'll get too many, can't see him going to the World Cup in 2010 |

I agree with the first post. Except I wouldn't use the word average in any sense to describe him. He was a very very good player for us during the 90's and even in 00's. If only he would have ignored the model lifestyle he could have gone on to become world class because either way you look at it, he was the best passer long ball passer in the world and God knows he bailed us out enough times. He was my idol when growing up and not because of the lifestyle, I modelled my playing style similar to his while growing up, though nowadays I try emulate scholesys style of play more.

So what I dont give a shit about his media profile or how famous he is.. He was a key member of that team and deserves as much respect as the ones you mention based solely on what he did on the pitch..

No - I think he was an above average player who did very well. A legend is a Best or a Charlton or a Keane or a Robson. I could name you 20 premiership players who were better then him during his time in the Premiership. Always apreciated Becks. |
