I don't think there's a single female main referee in the football league, but female assistant referees have been around since the nineties, even in the Premiership.

There was a big deal around 10 years ago when the NBA had their first female ref.

She was good and it's no big deal anymore. I thought you Euro's were more progressive than that?

That's probably what some were saying about the first female airline pilots ... but they are commonplace now, do just as good a job as the male pilots and no one really thinks about it anymore.

Will it be any different with female refs? I doubt it.

In fact, because of a possible reduction in testosterone-fulled aggression (male player vs male referee), it may well help to cut down on player-abuse of the ref and lead to (relatively) calmer acceptance of ref decisions.

All of the refs should be female. Then there won't be so much dissent and swaering at the ref as men naturally behave better around women. The only bad point would be that the scousers will have to find another excuse for losing to us.
