And the world cup might have just served as the confirmation Sir Alex needed. |

Carrick>Hargreaves
|
i didn't see much of the 2nd half, but brown, rio, hargreaves, beckham were fairly decent. none of them were crap imo. rooney needs to play with another striker, joe cole was quiet which is surprising.. he's one of england's better and consistent performers. though i agree that carrick needs to be playing, partnering gerrard or lampard.. england are really clueless in the final 3rd of the pitch.. defense and buildup is getting better but they can't find that killer pass and can't finish.

When Hargreaves first joined us, I though he ran about like a headless chicken with no technique but was very good at harrassing and tackling...But now I think kindof the opposite, nice passer and touch but terrible at tackling!

Okay. Fair enough. What do you base it on though other than guesswork? Fergie said he was interested in him before the World Cup (course I'm not saying he definitely was but that's the fact we know).

Seriously that is a stupid comment. I didn't know someone who is prepared to work hard and always give 100% is classed as the opposite of a Fergie type player.
Fair enough if you think he isn't good enough for United but comments like that are just an insult to Ferguson. |

I'm back, sorry, needed the loo.
Basically, to sum up, IMO, Hargreaves seemed like the right plater at the right time. We still hadn't replaced Keane, Hargreaves could be seen as that replacement, he'd just had a good World Cup, He was suddenly the Nation's hero, he is English, he thought he'd come at a good price (I seem to remember Fergie thought he'd cost in the region of £8 - £10 million). Do you really think that Fergie had been scouting him for a long time, and that the World Cup was the deciding factor ? Because I don't. |
