why slate him?

imo, it isn't about the best players in England; it is about the best team you can put out there. you need to have the right balance.

You'd drop Joe Cole? He was one of Engalnd's best players against the Swiss, in decent form too.

Wouldn't expect the line-ups for a little while yet, an hour maybe.

Sarkozy will be at Windsor Castle while the game is on i'm guessing, attending a State Banquet in his honour if i heard the timetable right. Somebody's bound to have an earphone in at that bash.

Expecting a 3-0 thrashing. Hope for a 0-0 and a slow boring match. No point in this friendly at all during a crucial time for the league and champions league, just another chance to show how spineless/care free/average/passionless our team is.

Can Hargreaves and Barry play together though ?

Still boggles the mind how Carrick doesn't even make the squad. Ah well, all the better for United.

I don't like the XI and I expect I'm not alone in that.

Still... none of it actually matters until we start qualifying for the 2010 world cup.

So if United were doing crap and not contending for either, you'd be supportive then?

I reckon we can put on a good showing tonight, a score draw or edge them out. And we'll be even more frustrated lookign ahead to the summer, and what might have been.

On the back of grand slam sunday they choose to play this match and a week later the top 4 english clubs play in the champions league. I am always supportive of England and United just think the timing of this pointless match could not be worse.

Lampard will not be on the bench. He has been left at the hotel because he has the shits (again, according to Sky).

Wes and Ashley Cole are gonna have to raise their game from last time.

As goes he XI, it is more a question of them taking on board Capello's vision and acting as a team. We saw some progress last time, kept the ball on the deck and the passing was better as the game went on, hopefully we pick up where we left off.

Decent team. I would hope that Rooney is not left isolated up front on his own. Barry can push further forward while Hargreaves protects the back four. Becks and Brown on the right need to recreate the sort of overlapping partnership he had with Gaz Nev.

Anyone know who will be on the bench?

The lineup should be solid with Barry and Hargreaves.

If it isn't then... Hah.

Awful, Lampard has a virus of sorts and that gerrard and lampard is a recipe for disaster

BBC had the team news ages ago.

Quote:
1833: TEAM NEWS France v England
Guess what? David Beckham will start on the right of midfield. The team in full: James, Brown, Ferdinand, Terry, A Cole, Hargreaves, Barry, Beckham, Gerrard, J Cole, Rooney. So no Frank Lampard and no David Bentley. The formation will be 4-2-3-1 we reckon.
Quote:
David Beckham will win his 100th cap from the start of England's friendly with France in Paris.

Beckham takes his place in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is alongside Joe Cole and Steven Gerrard playing in front of Owen Hargreaves and Gareth Barry.

Wayne Rooney will play on his own up front while captain Rio Ferdinand partners John Terry, Ashley Cole and Wes Brown at the back.

David James is in goal but Frank Lampard and David Bentley miss out.

4-2-3-1 is probably the formation of the future I reckon. It could work really well but problem is Lampard.
