What I like is that he's able to always gain a sense of perspective when others don't have it. He can be critical of us, but will always see the other side of an argument, meaning he isn't overly critical at the same time.

i like how he doesnt show his United bias, obviously he's a red through and trhough but he shows realy impartiality in his analysis. He impressed me from the start, i'm not a United fan and frankly i found him annoying as a player (i did rate him) and had an opinion of him based on that but he's shot that down, he's been great.

That's the kind of analysis I'd put down money for. Not recycled cliches. I wish I got to see his analysis as it's things like that really draw my interest. It's like getting an insider perspective about it all. Brilliant from Gary. I hope he's there for a while.

err easy now. I've liked him personally, put him on a par with both Dixon and Souness as the best pundits out there because they speak about things that are relevant. He's not groundbreaking or anything by any stretch of the imagination.

His Arshavin rant was hilarious.

He's had a few 'typical Sky' moments, like awarding MOTM to a player who was anonymous for 89 minutes but then scored, or heaping praise on the English try hard (Carroll last night) despite him being shit, but overall I think he's very good.

I thought the same. Probably trying to prove his impartiality by overly praising Carroll last night.

He also looked bewildered after the Dalglish interview.

I think he's very good. Him and Souness make a great pair when they're on together.

He tries very hard at times to not be biased towards Utd.

I'd imagine at Sky they're encouraged to do certain things like that probably to get more positive remarks of people like Dalglish (which clearly ddin't work.) I read an article by Neville saying if little incidents happen in a game they're told to pick up on them to make a story for SSN in the week.

He's probably the best pundit on TV at the moment, not scared to voice an opinion and is usually very interesting to listen to, it helps that he is recently retired so is in touch more with the modern game. I'm probably in a minority but I think he works well with Redknapp as well.

Champions League nights on Sky are very good with Souness, Redknapp and Neville I feel, all decent to listen to. Especially Neville and Souness.

Because he's actually fair and tells it how it is. All these brown nose bastards on Sky trying to stir the pot and Neville just plays it down. Fair play to him. He's a professional after all. Redknapp made a quim of himself by arguing that Rio should have been sent off. On the other hand, we have Pat Nevin on this stream I'm watching jumping on the bandwagon and getting tore into Suarez by not shaking a c*nts hand. The sex offenders list-looking wanker!

What did Nev say that had them supporting him so much? Would have thought he'd have to be pretty pro-Liverpool to get the Rawkites on side, but can't really imagine that scenario in a game like today's.

What was the response to Nev's comments (whatever they were) on here?

I agree he's been a real surprise as a pundit though. Much better than I think anyone would have predicted.

Its just what he says in general he was going on about how this should be a football issue and not a race one or something like that. Hes the best pundit on sky.

They agree with most things he says as Nev says things how he sees it.

In the half time thread some of the other posters were asking what Neville was saying and this is what a couple said:

Quote:
You shouldn't shake hands if you don't like someone and who gives a fuck if they fight in the tunnel, just win the match.
Quote:
Nothing in the barney in the tunnel. He loves the passion between the two sides
As for the response to his comments on here, the view was the same. He didn't say anything controversial, just what most who watch would agree with.

Ah right, just unusual that you get both sets of fans agreeing on something as controversial as today's game. Normally when someone 'says how it is' there's normally one group arguing that they're wrong.

Good for Nev though, I enjoy his honest speaking on there. It's very refreshing.

"pffft!"

Love seeing Gary, one of the most HATED United players as far as Liverpool fans are concerned, reaping such incredible respect for his punditry. It's good to see them being honest about it, and it's good to see that a class act like Gary gets the respect he deserves

Too bad we don't get his analyses, this is pretty much the first I've seen of him as a pundit.

DJ: "What do you think about what we saw before the game?"

GN: "I was surprised, erm, I think that, for me obviously it's quite clear that Luiz Suarez had completely blank Patrice Evra. I'm not sure it's the wisest thing for him to do, i'm not sure that he's helped his football club, i think that Kenny Dalglish has now been put in a position where after the game he will have to defend him again."

On the 21secs challenge/collusion.

GN: "Look they don't like each other, i don't have a problem with that, i don't have a problem with what went on in the tunnel. This Man Utd Liverpool incidents, it's what makes it the best league in the world. We want this sort of confrontation and aggression in football match, and passion. The racism we don't want, that's the issue we don't want but in terms of the fire, the passion, and the tackling, you know, people not liking each other, i don't have a problem with all that. It's more important you win the game."

think he is wasted as a pundit mate.

Is that a career he's expressed interest in?

I'm not sure good pundit would necessarily make someone a good manager as well. But certainly some of the skills are transferrable. Good communications etc.
