Gillette Soccer Saturday

Anyone watching? Is that "have a dig at United" day or what?

Merson claims Ronaldo's goal wasn't all that, Walcotts was 100 times better.

They're complaining about 5 of the 6 nominated for the PFA's are United players.

Merson, Charlie and Thompson reckon Everton will beat us. They're claiming we're in shocking form and can't continue this little run of lucky late goals. Macheda's goal against Sunderland was a fluke, and so on.

The bias is unbelievable.

Let them carry on, I prefer it when people right us off. We don't need the support of some two bit druggy, and I'm sure Ronaldo doesn't give two shits as to what he thinks either. Its evident that Ronaldo's goal was the best scored in the CL this season.
They can't really complain about the 5/6 PFA nominees because the votes were taken in September, so in essence its actually a nomination for last years player of the year, in which case we won both the CL and PL, and deserve the awards.

Thompson can go find a cliff and take a dive. Big nose twat.

I just caught the end of it before the break.

They have point about the PFA nominations and they're entitled to think Everton might beat us but the Ronaldo goal was goal of the season so far. Merson must be back on the bottle if he said that.

It's like Stan Collymore, he's another shit pundit.

God knows why they let these people on the radio/TV. There are plenty more decent ones out there than these two dickheads who have done little to deserve another opportunity like that.

Drug taking and wife beating. Great advertisements.

Anyone else watching the match at the moment on Sky 1? Great goal but very funny when you hear the chant - "Are you watching Hartlepool"

This is not relevant to this thread.

Well Merson is a huge Arsenal fan so I am not surprised about what he said.

They are right about the PFA nominations with United having 5 out of 6 on the list. We have not been exceptional.

Everton could quite easily beat us. We are off form. They are not obliged to pick United to win every single match.

One thing being a huge Arse fan its another being a huge retard which Merson proves often. There is no goal 100x better than Ronaldo's strike, granted there are some goals which are perhaps better (Carlos' Freekick etc) but no goal is 100x better, Merson needs either to shut the fuck up or learn the meaning of Hyperbole.

If you take anything Merson says seriously then God help you. That panel is hardly a collection of football masterminds is it.

Anyone who's out of a job gets on there. I see they've just picked up Jewell to add to their list of manager no one wants. Dowie started reporting on league two matches to get work!

Why do they have a point about the PFA nominations? It was the players who voted for them, if they say 5 of the 6 top players in the Premiership are from United, isn't that democracy in action?! That's why it's highly respected, because it's the fellow players voting

The daft thing is that the vote takes place around February time or so

Walcotts was a cracking cool finish to be fair, but scoring a 40 yarder like Ronaldo did is on another level

I like Soccer Saturday, Stelling usually gives em a slap in the face if they go too crazy with their bias, and is around to take the piss when it goes tits up for them. That said, who doesn't want to punch Phil Thompson? That big nose of his is like a dart board bullseye

That's pretty much what they were complaining about about to be fair.

But then someone went and ruined everything by saying Kevin Davies should be in there.

Kevin Davies is probably the least likely player to be voted PLAYER'S player of the year. He's a nightmare to play against.

Usually i like them, they have a unbiased opinion (bar old big nose) but today was a little silly, granted Ronaldo didnt hit the top corner how can you say he didnt mean it? I mean when you shoot from that far out you have to get the pace to beat the keeper and some direction on it so the keeper cant save it! Are you telling me Walcott knew exactly where that ball was going to end up? FFS it could have hit the crossbar...

Also i was a little shocked that they didnt give our performance vs Porto as indication that we may be getting back to old ways - they actually seemed to believe that game was a blip and we overperformed!

As my dad who is very wise always tells me "If people criticise you son, you know you are doing something right".

Yep, like being top of the table and in the 1/2 finals of the CL & FA cup - I would say my dad is right.

All the morons are just jeolous - they may be rich and more famous tha most of us ... but supporting a football team is a great leveller ... and I cant imagine the the pain our success causes them.

You know it's bad when Phil Thompson accuses Nicholas and Merson of bias.
Oh, and apparently Fergie and Allardyce "both own the LMA" according to that big nosed twat

When Stelling claimed Mike Riley's on a run of awarding United penalties at Old Trafford Thompson smugly affirmed the statement, the last time he gave a penalty at OT was 2005! If anything hes been deliberately biased against us, that chelsea game at the start of the season he booked 7 of our players ffs! That thread on the penalties the Big Four concede/get awarded in comparison to each other is a huge eye opener as well IMO

Yeah, I forgot to mention that they claimed Riley was a United fan and that Fergie and Allardyce are making a big fuss over nothing (the Benitez incident last week)

Ignore Thompson. In the last 19 years he's seen his beloved Liverpool win the league precisely zero times. Think about that and just laugh at the pyramid-faced cretin. Imagine how many times he has felt the crushing feeling of failure and tell me it doesn't bring a smile to your face.

Merse is an idiot if he thinks Walcott's goal was better than Ronaldo's.

It's a good programme though and they've certainly got a point about the PFA Awards.

HAH "Oh shut up Charlie!"

I remember thinking myself when Berba scored this goal that the current United squad has got something special in them. OK United has made numerous late goals in the Fergie-era but I think the squad that we had say 5 years ago didn't have that kind of toughness in them..

But anyway let's all laugh at the scouse..!

Everyone in the studio said Chelsea to win tomorrow. Paul Merson even said they'd win 4-0 if Vidic doesn't play, because Evans and Brown aren't good enough to cover Drogba.
They also pretty much agreed that based on this season, Rooney would be the only United player to make it into the Chelsea team. They also gave Nani a bit of stick and said he wasn't good enough for United. Phil Thompson agreed, although he said he wouldn't want to mark him, because he has the ability to tear you to shreds if he can keep his focus.
Just thought I'd share
