"I have jioned the biggest team in Manchester"

Robinho interview in the Daily Mail.

"I have joined the biggest team in Manchester, I am very happy to be here.

Five minutes of being cash bummed by a Saudi robber wipes out thirty years of failure.....Apparantly.

Poor Robinho, thinking he has joined Manchester United.

He'll be in for a shock when he lines up with Stephen Ireland, Darius Vassell and Richard Dunne instead of with Ronaldo, Rooney and Rio Ferdinand.

I was at first a little saddened that he slipped through our fingers but as he has shown himself to be a total muppet I'm pleased we have not got him, the last thing we need is another arrival of a wealthy diva with raging emotions- I feel sorry for Sparky as his summer has somewhat been a tale of ups and downs.

To be honest he would been nothing more than an occasional impact player for Chelsea ------ I am surprised at Sparky to be honest he seemed as excited as the fans just to be signing expensive big named players.

Who thinks Robinho had heard of Manchester City before they signed him?

In the interview, he says at least five times that City are a big (massive) club. it sounds like he's trying to convince himself.

I heard your man Tim Vickery, the correspondent for South American football, talking in some interview and he said in Brazil, Man Utd are known simply as Manchester. Fuck all people have ever heard of Man City. Maybe Robinho did make that mistake!!

Indeed, that's what he's trying to do and it can't be more obvious. I remember last season when there were rumours about Robinho going to Spurs, and he said something along the lines of 'if I leave, I will leave for another big club, I don't regard Spurs as a big club'.

Oh, the irony.

Its like if we told Ronaldo we'd accepted a bid from Madrid, passed him the contract to sign and then told him it was Athletico. In fact I say we do that.

Wasn't that quote from Eto'o?

Both. Eto'o was a bit more humble with his words mind. Robinho's words were the equivalent of telling Spurs to feck off.

edit:

Quote:
"Reports that I'd move to Tottenham are wide of the mark," Robinho told Marca.

"If I had to leave Real, I'd choose to join another a big club.

"I don't regard Tottenham Hotspur as a big club."

That assumes he had any say in the matter.

It`ll be interesting to see what happens if they go mad in January buying umpteen players and unsettling the squad.

People forget that Chelsea may have spent a lot to become champions but the had a very good manager in Mourinho.

Think one of his mates came to the caf, saw a lot of references to city, then went to tell Robinho that City are "masivo".

Shame no one told him they were "mierda"

It doesn't sound to me like he's saying it to convince himself, more that someone's had a whisper in his ear saying that he should say it because it'll go down well with the fans.

The City fans'll love hearing their new superstar signing prattling on about how they're the biggest club in Manchester, much bigger than their rivals now.

He has joined the richest club in Manchester, not the biggest. Money does not equal size.

Pele: Robinho needs counselling after rejecting Chelsea for Man City

Former Brazil striker Pele has told Chelsea they have had a lucky escape after failing to sign Robinho from Real Madrid.

By Giles Mole
Last Updated: 1:21PM BST 03 Sep 2008

Robinho moved to Manchester City on transfer deadline day for £32.5 million, catching everyone by surprise, with Stamford Bridge originally thought to be his likely destination.

The 24-year-old engineered a transfer out of the Bernebeu by staging his own press conference on the opening day of the La Liga season, declaring he wanted a move to the Premier League.

With Luiz Felipe Scolari now managing Chelsea, London seemed the only possible option for Robinho, until City snatched the forward from under the nose of Roman Abramovich on a £6m-a-year deal.

Back in Brazil, many supporters have frowned upon Robinho's antics and choice of club.

Even the player's mother, Marina, has said she does not know why he chose to go to City and reject the chance to play under Scolari.

Despite the fact Real were reluctant to sell to one of their Champions League rivals, the Chelsea deal was still expected to go through.

However, when City announced that they had agreed a fee with Real, and coach Bernd Schuster said the striker had not moved for "footballing reasons", it left those in Robinho's native Brazil believing he had let down his country in favour of a quick buck.

Pele said: "Chelsea are lucky. This boy needs some serious counselling. In my view he has been badly advised."

And the criticism was even more stinging from his former club Santos, whose president, Marcelo Teixeira, said: "This is one of the most disgraceful episodes in Brazilian football.

"He is a player who is an idol to children, an example. But he has not acted like one."

Santos general manager, Jose Fernandos, had his two cents worth as well, adding: "We are ashamed at having produced such a player."

wow these are some harsh words, all i got from the statements from calderon was that Robinho is clearly not all that well in the mind.
