Chelsea have to be grateful to be this man. The pass he picked out for Chelsea's third was just perfect. He's been the one constant for them and I dont remember him having a poor performance for chelsea. I know other players will get praise but Mata really deserves most if not all. His movement, eye for a pass and just sheer ingenuity does it for me. Top player and he's still like what? 23? 24?
He's my signing of the season. |

Certainly didn't think Mata had a great game tonight, he was good but he's played better in a Chelsea shirt a few times this season. |

Not seen enough of him to form a solid opinion. He looks very good but I don't know how consistent he is over 90 minutes. His touch before setting up the first goal tonight was fantastic, but overall Drogba's performance overshadowed him.

He's been their best player this season no doubt. There's been plenty of times when he's really struggled to get himself into a few of their games but then the team performances haven't exactly been great.
As for better than Silva? No chance. |

The worst one for you in recent years is probably Petr Cech. |

Huh? He's one of the good players in the premier league. Nothing to be in total awe about like some on this thread and luckily these characters are rightly balanced out by voices of reason who see him for what he is.
A good player, nothing more or less. |

I'm not saying I'd turn my nose up at him but we already have a number of quality players in the final third. It's his compatriot, Javi Martinez, that we should be looking at. |

Their are two Martinez in the La Liga(There might be more, but for this argument's sake). One is Inigo Martinez who is a central defender and plays for Real Sociedad(the one who scored the goal from halfline) and the other is Javi Martinez(The muppet signing) who was impressive in the U21 and played as a midfielder there, however this season he has been used as a central defender by Athletic Bilbao by their new manager.

Chelsea's best wide player. Chelsea's best central creative player.
There's more to come from him though as he hasnt scored as many as he consistantly got for Valencia. When he's also getting 10-12 goals a season on top of all his assists you'll see his true worth as a final third player. But yes he's been brilliant for Chelsea so far |
