how this man kept getting jobs is beyond me, him and Curbishley should go into business together and keep their momentum going!

(Told in the summer that he had a budget of £12m, Keegan proposed signing David Beckham, Ronaldinho, Frank Lampard and Thierry Henry)

“It was so bizarre that you had to wonder if he was doing it on purpose, to try to get sacked. There was no getting through to him. What he wanted would have cost the club £200m in transfer fees and wages, and he had been told over and over again that he had around £12m to spend.

On the James Milner issue, the truth is that Kevin sat in on a meeting where the sale was discussed. Kevin reckoned James was worth £7m-£8m, and the plan was to use that cash to buy Sebastian Schweinsteiger.

Tony Jimenez did the negotiations with Villa and managed to agree a fee of £12m with them, which was brilliant. Everyone thought it was too good to turn down, so the deal was done. Unfortunately, Schweinsteiger then said he wouldn’t come.

They're having a meeting in London now. Shame, would have been funny seeing an empty SJP tomorrow.

Sky Sports News sources understand that Kevin Keegan met Newcastle owner Mike Ashley for talks on Friday.

Keegan left St James' Park last week after days of uncertainty over whether he had been sacked as manager or walked away.

He later confirmed that he had resigned because he did not have the control he wanted over club matters.

The announcement brought an end to Keegan's second spell in charge of the Magpies, after he dramatically succeeded Sam Allardyce as boss in January.

It is now believed that Keegan has spoken to Ashley in London, although there has been no confirmation from Newcastle.

It is not known what the pair may have discussed, as speculation continues over who will be the next Newcastle manager.

The latest development has propelled Keegan back among the favourites for the job, while the likes of Gustavo Poyet and Paul Ince have been strongly linked.
Ince would be fucking nuts to take that job...

Paul McCartney wanted to marry Heather Mills, and fought his daughters' wishes on it. Sometimes you need to accept that others know better.

Yeah, but who cares? It's Newcastle, no major threat to us. If they want Keegan, who I think is a great manager to have around in the premiership, then let them off.

I know it's on a completely different planet, but lets just say Fergie has a catastrophic run of results, and the board sacked him. I would hope United fans would rally together to get him back. I know that would never happen, but thats just how I'm trying to explain it. Plus I may or may not have smoked some form of mind altering drug so if this is nonsense then fair enough

I'm happy enough for him to be there, but he's a poor coach. Newcastle fans have an unrealistic view of his abilities, and I don't think they should be congratulated for showing what, for me at least, is poor judgement.

The difference with your example is we would be correct to think SAF was the best man for our job. They are not, IMO.

No return for Keegan

The League Managers Association have confirmed that talks between Kevin Keegan and Mike Ashley failed to reach 'a satisfactory conclusion'.

Keegan met with Newcastle owner Ashley in London on Friday evening but it was initially unclear what they were discussing.

The LMA have now revealed that the pair were trying to 'resolve several issues'.

News of the meeting had sparked fresh speculation that Keegan could be about to return to St James' Park just over a week after he had resigned.

However, such a remarkable turn of events now appears unlikely with no more discussions planned.

The statement read: "The League Managers Association can confirm that talks to resolve several issues were held today between Kevin Keegan and Mike Ashley of Newcastle United Football Club.

"However, the discussion failed to reach a satisfactory conclusion."

Keegan stood down after eight months in charge of the Magpies after failing to resolve his differences with the board.

Chris Hughton will be the caretaker manager for Saturday's clash with newly promoted Hull.
