lol..totally, i spotted that as well. just kept at him...i imagine the earlier part of the interview would show keys slyly winding him up more and more. You can also see andy gray's quite nervous about the whole thing...think he sees it coming and is trying to avoid riling him further!!

Wish id watched the thing live, but this is the longest clip ive found anywhere.

You know i might just be mental but i still dont see how this was a fergie masterstroke. I mean yep fergie got him wound up but if you were a newcastle player watching that you'd think...fucking damn right...i wanna play for this guy, i want this title even more.

Maybe im wrong...thinking about it he does a similar thing with arsenal or at least he used to. He often looked to play up the significance of our meetings with them...e.g. "its the game of the decade" whereas wenger would look to play it down.."its just 3 points". Maybe he's backing himself to help the players deal with the pressure when things get cranked up better than his rivals.

All id say is were i a newcastle player or fan watching that would have got me fired up...its pretty much what you'd want to see from your manager. no?

Nope, you've lost it.
I'd be quite disturbed that this mental case was the manager of my club. He made himself look incredibly weak in that interview.

Fergie got him hook line and sinker. Leeds had played United a few days before newcastle played them, and I **** Leeds were down towards relegation at the time but came to OT and put in a massive effort United only winning 1-0. Fergie said afterwards that the Leeds players had been cheating their manager and that it was more important for them to play well against United than anything else, and that it would be interesting to see how they would play against Newcastle. This is what set Keegan off.

Cant remember howStuart Pearce got involved though. Anyone?

Pearce was the player/manager of Nottingham Forest at the time, no?

Has anyone got a picture of that giant billboard that was over the Arndale Centre at the end of that season? The one with Fergie smiling, his arm draped over a bewildered looking Keegan?

I keep telling people the story, but it would be nice to have a picture to back it up.

It was a while ago now & I could be wrong. So far as I recall there was no text or anything on it. It was just a massive billboard that spoke a thousand words in one picture. If I remember rightly it was facing towards the railway arches and the road out to Salford?

Seen a video of this a while back with some humorous commentary from some writers, celebs, etc. Thought it was hilarious, one of them making fun of Keegan by shouting "and when I win it I'm gonna take it round Alex Ferguson's house and polish it in his face, yeah!!!"

Anyone seen this? Bloody YouTube took it down a while ago.
