That's a fair point though.

I think El Clasico's are actually unwatchable now. The cheating and theatrics and antics are ridicilous. It's gone way past the level I'd tolerate to watch a couple of decent bits of football.

And don't tell me it's fucking part of the game, there's not another game in the world close to it for disgusting behaviour.

You people seriously don't want to see pub level/sunday football if you think the likes of Busquets are disgusting......you might find yourselves killing people you liked. Some filthy tackles and antics go on. It's just football, shouldn't get so personally invested.

But yeah, ouch indeed, and not karma. It's not like it's John Terry now.

What do you prefer - the threatrics of the Clasico's today or the brutish, cynical fouling in the Clasico's of yesteryear?

Why do we have to choose either? Personally I find the theatrics worse, because cynical fouling most of the time is punished according to the rules, while theatrics, playacting etc (with the exception of diving to win freekicks or penalties) isnt punished even when its blatantly obvious that its unsporting conduct and done with the sole purpose of conning the referee into making a wrong decision.

Anyway, we shouldnt have to choose between the two scenarios. Why cant they just play proper football and get on with actually playing the game?

I'm definitely on the other end of things. Was just watching Maradona v Madrid in '83 there and with some of the tackles that were allowed - probably could've been three red cards in 5 minutes with referees these days - it's not surprising that Maradona got seriously injured in Spain. Threatrics are just a mild annoyance, most of the time you can just laugh at the ridiculousness of it all...I can't say the same about brutish tackling. It genuinely astounds me that people don't feel bad for Busquets when they see that injury just because he's a bit of a fanny.

many people dont realize that a dive can change the outcome of a game, while a foul can change a whole tournament and even the life of a person

It's not that he's a fanny, it's that he cynically fakes serious injury in order to con the ref into sending off his fellow professionals. He does it systhematically, as the whole of Barca does. If ever there was something such as karma, it is this.

Barca's poor away form continuing...Osasuna 1-0 up 6 minutes in. Puyol committed to the tackle but never made it, Pique sleeping, decent goal but far too easy. Busquets probably would've cut out that first pass though.

And people wonder why there's doubts over Pique's defending. Sleeping again for the goal.

This is the season the league table will lie

Real Madrid will win the league, but currently have a record of P5, D2 L3
And there's still one more league game to come, and who knows in the CL

League table doesn't lie. Its about the whole season and all 20 teams, not just the games against each other.

This is why I always tell people to judge Barcelona players in the context of the team they're a part of. He simply gets tested very little usually. It's a very unique and lucky situation for a centre back for his team to keep the ball 70 per cent of the time almost always.

What's difficult to understand

Barcelona are definitely a better side than Real Madrid, as judged by the games between them this season
Real Madrid will win the league

Hence, the league table won't be a true reflection

Will Real Madrid care, not one bit

Well Barca haven't been a better side so far, hence they are not top of the league.

Liverpool beat us twice in '09, does that mean they were better than us in spite of us winning the league?

But we've got six games here, and the potential for two more in the CL. It's a better sample size than two games

That wasn't offside. Could have been three. When was the last time Barca were 3-0 down?

If Barcelona lose this game, or draw, and Valencia and Real win then Valencia will be closer to Barcelona than Barca will be to Real.

Barca might be better than Madrid when they meet them because psychologically they elevate their game but this season they've generally been underwhelming (in comparison the 08/09 and last season).
Besides it makes sense, something was gonna stop them, it took Madrid an amazing effort and Barca a lack of motivation, luck and effort for that to happen

I'm not watching the game, but I put a fiver on Osasuna to score the third goal at odds of 6/1 for a possible £30. Anybody watching that can tell me whether it's looking likely?

Usually the league is a fantastic way of deciding who is the best team, but if they meet 8 times and Real Madrid fail to win one, but win the league, you are honestly going to tell me they are the best team in Spain?

They were clean through on goal a couple of minutes ago, but were wrongly called offside.

The best teams wins the league. Or were Liverpool better than us the season they battered us 4-1 at Old Trafford?

Unless you think Barca win the CL. If one wins La Liga and the other the CL, then it's debatable.

This season - Yes.

Just like if we lost to City in our league and cup games but won the league we would still be the best team as it's over more games.
