Last Man Standing 2012-13 (simplified version)

A simplified version of last years game this time.

Rules
-Select one team to win from this weekends Premier League Fixtures.
-If they win/draw you are through to the next round, lose and you are out.
-You cannot pick the same team twice unless you have already picked every team.
- You can pick as many weeks in advance as you like
- For people who enter late a team will be removed as an option for them starting with the League winner last year and moving down.
- If you fail to pick a team then the team with the highest league standing from the previous season which you have not picked yet will be automatically picked for you.
- It's up to the players to ensure that their votes are registered on the OP. If I haven't got them updated by kick off then get someone to quote you in the thread.
- From week 5 onwards if you miss three weeks you are out. I'll be highlighting autopicks in the spreadsheet yellow.

What's with allowing teams through that draw? I thought the point of the game was only winners advance?

Yep. Prefer the look of this than last season. Simpler the better.

Edit: Yeah, don't think a draw should progress.

I'm guessing there won't be a huge take up so I'm trying to make it a bit easier to progress, otherwise this could be over in a few weeks.

If a lot sign up I'll change that.

I'm in.

I thought last season's format was pretty good but towards the end of the season it was barely updated.

With this I can see it being over in 6 or 7 games whereas with robocop's if you were knocked out you could start again from scratch and have another go at trying to get the record.

Depends how people play it. If they play it well you could be in for ages. If everyone is out really quick then I'll start again.

This is easier to manage though.

I like that though, it's not complicated, and by the end of the season, we'll see who has the most overall wins (if we can keep it going for that long... and if not, then it's no massive deal as we've already had some winners).

I thought people were put of last year by how complicated it seemed, but TBF it was probably not too bad.

If more people play this time it might last longer, I don't think the last one was that difficult though. I agree about this being easier to manage.

It wasn't, it is just that the amount of rules and the hard/easy thing put people off. It was as follows:

Easy mode:
Essentially the same as this, you choose a team to win and if they win or draw their match you get a point. Only difference is that in that you could pick the same team again after 8 picks and you can miss one week and not have your score reset.

Hard mode:
Same as above but the team you choose has to win or your score will be reset.

With that you had the option of whether you wanted to do easy mode, hard mode or both but I think in the end people got bored with it apart from me and thoward and then when it wasn't updated anymore it ended abruptly.

I'll go easy for this week as it's very hard to know what each team will look like before the start of the season but I reckon City are obviously clear favourites against Southampton so Man City for me for week 1

And fair play for organising this Irwin.
I helped out with this game for a while in the newbies a few years ago and it took a fair bit of work every week to do the scores but I was at college so had lots of spare time.

I hope your wife and/or kids aren't too demanding on a Sunday evening!

I'll not be doing any scores. If you're out your name will be moved to the big list of losers. If you're still in you're name will stay as it is.
