Marchers, how does it feel to have a team that has a -5 goal difference nipping at your heels?

That's more like it
![]() Swindon 0-1 Leeds A first-half Tresor Kandol header was enough to give Leeds their first win under new manager Gary McAllister. Kandol arrowed his effort straight into the top left-hand corner from Dave Prutton's cross in the 24th minute. Simon Cox should have pulled useless Swindon level shortly before half time but headed over unmarked from three yards. Super Leeds came close to doubling their lead but Swindon goalkeeper Phil Smith tipped over Prutton's corner and Jonathan Howson's five-yard volley. |

Back up to 7th and just a point outside the playoffs....our excellent GD might just be the important thing come the end of the season.
![]() Leeds extended their unbeaten run to five games and moved to within a point of the play-off places after beating lowly Bournemouth 2-0 at Elland Road. Goals from Bradley Johnson and Neil Kilkenny - their first for the club - were enough to see off a visiting team who will wonder how they failed to make an impression on the scoresheet. Johnson capitalised on a goalkeeping howler from David Forde, on loan from Cardiff City, to give United the lead in the 11th minute. He slotted into an empty net from six yards out after Forde left it late to come from his line and challenge for a hopeful punt forward by David Prutton. Bournemouth wasted several chances to equalise during a scrappy first half, with Sam Vokes and Max-AlainGradel firing wide when it looked easier to score, and they continued to create opportunities throughout the match against a Leeds team who would surely have been punished by superior opposition. But United made the points safe on 63 minutes when Jonny Howson teed up Kilkenny, who hit a fierce 18-yard drive into the bottom right-hand corner of the net, much to the delight of the majority of a 21,199 crowd. (720 from Bournemouth) Six minutes later, Kilkenny made way for Dougie Freedman as manager Gary McAllister opted to give the loan striker an outing for the final 20 minutes, and Leeds continuted to press in search of a third goal. It was a workmanlike, if hardly sparkling, performance by the home team, for whom Johnson and Prutton were particularly impressive. |

![]() It will be touch and go for the play offs but then if that's what we were offered at the start of the season with starting 15 points behind everyone else I'd have taken it. |
