Thats close. You would probably be winning the league without the deduction.

Having seen today how Gary Mac has got them playing I'm sure we would have gone up automatically if we'd still got the 15 points - we might still get some of them back which might spice things up a bit.

Made a nice change today to leave ER and not feel pissed off at the quality of the football.

Don't know why it's taken me two days to commemorate Leeds dropping another 2 points, albeit it to decent opposition.

Dennis Wise was getting somewhere though, in fairness. To get Leeds into the top half of League One along was quite an achievement considering the deduction.
You've had your little run though now, to my great amusement.

In fairness to Wise a lot of what was achieved was down to Gus Poyet and when he left the wheels started to come off.

Now Wisey is up here at Newcastle, doing what I'm not too sure. Although I read last night he has been to America twice looking at the next wonderkid who's due on Tyneside for trials.

The football under Gary Mac is a different class than under Wise...whether that is what gets us out of this division I don't know but it is better to watch.

Vital 3 points for us in the most important being played tonight...up to 7th and 1 point behind Tranmere with a game in hand.

Doncaster Rovers 0 Leeds United 1

Alan Sheehan curled home a brilliant free-kick to hand Leeds United a vital 1-0victory over Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The Irish left-back picked out the corner of Neil Sullivan's net with a 20th-minute set-piece, launching United back towards League One's play-off zone.
Sheehan produced the game's only goal after Paul Green bundled overJonathan Douglas on the edge of Rovers' box, and Leeds weathered heavy pressure with an exhausting defensive display to secure their win.

Goalkeeper Casper Ankergren made outstanding saves to deny Paul Heffernan and James Coppinger, and Neil Kilkenny cleared a Matt Mills header off Ankergren's goalline shortly before half-time.

Doncaster produced three excellent chances at the start of the second period, the first of which was driven wide from the edge of the box by Richie Wellens.

A corner from Brian Stock then deflected against Ankergren's right-hand post, and Steve Roberts fired over the crossbar from point-blank range after Heffernan failed to connect with another delivery from Stock.

James Hayter also drove a great opportunity over the bar minutes after appearing as a substitute, but the game went begging for Doncaster when Jason Price sliced a late shot into the side-netting.

Good news.

McAllister agrees new Leeds deal

Leeds have only lost one of their last 10 games

Leeds United manager Gary McAllister has been awarded a new 12-month rolling contract by the club.

The former Elland Road captain, who played for United from 1990 to 1996, succeeded Dennis Wise in January.

The 43-year-old was initially given a contract until the end of the season by chairman Ken Bates and was charged with gaining promotion.

United lie one point outside the League One play-off places with six games of the season remaining.

Leeds are hoping an arbitration ruling this month overturns the Football League's 15-point deduction.

Leyton Orient 0 Leeds United 2

LEEDS United turned in one of their most creditable performances of the season to inflict a 2-0 defeat on Leyton Orient and climb back into League One's top six.

United produced a goal in either half at Brisbane Road, and Jermaine Beckford's 20th of the season capped a display riddled with composure and class.

Paul Huntington broke the deadlock by heading home Bradley Johnson's free-kick in the 16th-minute, but Leeds had already found the net before then – via a disallowed effort from Dougie Freedman – and the Elland Road club ran Orient ragged during the first half.

Freedman and Jonathan Howson saw shots brilliantly saved by Orient goalkeeper Glenn Morris, and Beckford fired an effort wide of the post after a clever pass from Neil Kilkenny played him into space inside the box.

Tamika Mkandawire came closest for the hosts with a shot over the crossbar which the defender ought to have converted, but Beckford's volley five minutes into the second half took him to 20 goals for the season and put the result beyond doubt.

How would you rate Huntington so far Marching? I remember not being happy he was sold last summer but I haven't kept tabs.

Until recently he's been restricted to the bench but Gary Mac seems to like him and he's played in the last few games....even scoring against Orient. I think he's now played more times (12) for us than he did for Newcastle.

I liked him on the few occassions I saw him play at SJP and hopefully he'll be a good signing for us at ER.

Another great win for Leeds today....

Leeds United 3 Carlisle United 2

Dougie Freedman struck with a second-half volley to earn Leeds United three points from a pulsating clash with Carlisle United at Elland Road.

The on-loan Crystal Palace striker produced a delightful finish on 69 minutes to claim his second goal of the game and secure a 3-2 win, keeping United firmly on course for a top-six finish in League One.

United had been forced to recover from a 1-0 deficit at half-time, but their dramatic recovery made amends for a disappointing first-half performance.
Carlisle opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Scott Dobie appeared Ankergren's back post and turned home a cross from Simon Hackney.

The visitors' attacking threat was minimal, but their organisation and rigid shape prevented Leeds from finding an equaliser before the break.
Bradley Johnson's shot on 25 minutes curled over the crossbar, and Freedman's effort two minutes before the break rose over the goal by a matter of inches.

But Keiren Westwood, Carlisle's goalkeeper, left the field at half-time without having made a single save, and it took an error from him to hand Leeds an equaliser on 49 minutes.

Westwood failed to gather a low cross from Neil Kilkenny, and when the ball slipped off his body and into the air, Freedman was waiting to bundle it into the net.

United turned the game on its head in the 58th minute when Jonathan Howson ran in to hammer home the rebound from substitute Tresor Kandol's parried shot, but Danny Graham took full advantage two minutes later when Ankergren's fumble from Hackney's corner allowed the striker to force home an equaliser.

The match appeared to have a winning goal in it, however, and Freedman produced his second of the match with 21 minutes remaining to secure United's win.

Freedman was perfectly placed to pounce on a rebound from Kilkenny's free-kick, and his volley flashed into the net before Westwood could move.

Leeds United picked up another three points towards their League One promotion target at dirty Millwall.

United manager Gary McAllister made three changes from the side which lost to Huddersfield in midweek.

Alan Sheehan returned from suspension in place of Darren Kenton, Anthony Elding stepped in up front for Tresor Kandol, and David Prutton returned to the side in place of the suspended Jonathan Douglas.

Millwall had several chances to take the lead, but Ali Fuseini and Ahmet Brkovic spurned their opportunities, while at the other end Dougie Freedman set-up Anthony Elding but he fired wide while Jonny Howson's header was held by goalkeeper Rhys Evans.

But United took the lead on 71 minutes, Prutton's 25-yard shot taking a deflection on its way to goal, before Andy Hughes doubled their advantage eight minutes later.

Leeds letter may incur judge's reprisal

Leeds United's chief executive, Shaun Harvey, sent a letter to Football League clubs last month setting out the grounds for the club's challenge to the 15-point penalty imposed, in apparent breach of rules governing football arbitrations.

The club and the League undertook to adhere to the Football Association's regulations in the arbitration that concluded on Monday, meaning they were bound by the confidentiality clauses underlined under FA rule K6: "The parties shall preserve and respect the confidentiality of the arbitration proceedings, including the issues in the dispute and the evidence and arguments presented by the parties."

Yet by the end of Harvey's five-page letter, sent out on March 20, Leeds had put everybody on notice about the eight points they would argue. He asserted a belief the club would prove a lack of independence in the League's attempts to legitimise its 15-point penalty through a club vote, adding that in voting on the issue all of Leeds's League One competitors would have "a vested interest". Sir Philip Otton, who chaired the FA's independent arbitration panel, is believed to be considering the letter's implications. He is known to hold the confidentiality of his proceedings paramount, giving all parties what one source referred to as "a big talking to" and threatening reprisals for breaches.

The League took this so seriously that they were even refusing to confirm the existence of the arbitration the night before it began.

And Healy must score

David Healy's lack of goals, which has contributed to Fulham's slump and left them facing relegation which could result in a £25m loss of income, may prove costly for Leeds too. The League One club stand to receive a performance-related sum from Fulham for the £1.5m striker if he scores five goals this season. With only three games in which to retrieve their five-point deficit from safety, Healy has four goals to his name.

here's hoping for 2 automatic relegations for the scums
