"Half an hour to 45 minutes after the game, Chelsea's Babs showed – the one-armed, half-caste man with the big reputation. We didn't care about the rumour that the one arm had a meat hook attached. The road hushed. Both mobs shaped to go. We were all itching, scanning One-Arm Babs, thinking the first one in on him could be a new name to talk about when the time came to recite the story of the day. "You've got to give One-Arm Babs his front, because he called it on: 'Where's Bill Gardner [the West Ham terrace legend]? I want Gardner!' He was seriously fronting us all, taking one step forward then eight backwards as Gardner came out of the crowd. The next thing – the Old Bill pushed them away. ![]() |

We'll thrash you, we've got Anto Flood, goal scoring machine....actually we'll probably play a weak team as we're playing Kildare the very next day!

Leeds points verdict on Thursday
McAllister's side have already secured their play-off place. Leeds United will find out the result of their appeal against their 15-point deduction on Thursday at 1700 BST, reports BBC Radio Leeds. The three-man arbitration panel will make the announcement at the Offices of the Chartered institute of Arbitrators in London. It is expected the decision will be revealed through the Football League. If the 15 points were to be reinstated to the club they would gain automatic promotion from League One. No Leeds fans are getting excited by this as we are expecting to get feck all. |

Leeds United have failed in their bid to claim back a 15-point Football League penalty following the decision of an arbitration panel on Thursday afternoon.
The Elland Road club had sought the return of the full points penalty originally handed out at the start of the season for breaking competition rules on insolvency. The return of all the points would have seen the club - who have already sealed a play-off spot in League One - secure automatic promotion. However following a lengthy hearing, the three-man arbitration panel ruled the league had not acted unfairly when docking the points. Earlier in the day, Leeds chairman Ken Bates revealed he would accept the decision of the panel. "The matter is now closed and the focus can now return to the pitch," read a club statement. "If the team are now able to progress through the play-offs to the Championship, then it would be the appropriate reward for the efforts of the club's fans and players in overcoming the penalty imposed." ![]() |

Shit first half from Leeds today but we got it right in the end and beat an unlucky Gillingham side today.
38,000 sell out which is pretty good for the 3rd Division....bring on the playoffs. Leeds 2-1 Gillingham Gillingham were relegated to League Two after Leeds came from behind to defeat them and Cheltenham beat Doncaster. The visitors made a good start and were ahead when Simeon Jackson pounced on a poor pass back from Paul Huntington, cut inside and fired into the corner. However, superb work from Seb Carole on the right allowed Brad Johnson to volley in the equaliser in style. And Tresor Kandol sealed the Gills' fate and secured fifth for Leeds when he finished coolly in the 88th minute. Leeds: Ankergren, Gardner, Michalik, Huntington, Sweeney (Carole 60), Prutton, Douglas (Delph 76), Hughes, Johnson, Kandol, Elding (Marques 90). Subs Not Used: Lucas, Thompson. Booked: Douglas. Goals: Johnson 69, Kandol 88. Gillingham: Stillie, Southall, Cullip (Griffiths 76), King, Nutter, Lewis (Oli 72), Maher, Crofts, Bentley, Mulligan (Miller 55), Jackson. Subs Not Used: Kiely, Ba. Booked: Mulligan. Goals: Jackson 20. Att: 38,256 Ref: Phil Dowd (Staffordshire). |
