Now everyone will realise why Jason started last year's thread in October when Leeds were in the bottom three!

Leeds v WBA 1971 is on ESPN Classics at 12.30.

Can't wait. I haven't seen it since 1971!

According to Wikipedia:

During a game between Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion at Elland Road on April 17, 1971, with the score already at 1-0 to West Brom, referre Ray Tinkler correctly allowed play to continue when a linesman flagged for offside.

Albion player Tony Brown had intercepted a ball and carried on running, hence the offside player (Suggett) was not interfering with play. This resulted in West Bromwich's Jeff Astle scoring a goal to make it 2-0.

Tinkler's decision caused outrage; he was surrounded by Leeds players, a Leeds fan ran on to the pitch before being removed by police, and even Leeds manager Don Revie entered the pitch to argue with him.

Leeds lost the game 2-1, losing impetus in the Division One title race, which they eventually lost by one point to Arsenal.

I remember it as the most offside goal ever, so look forward to seeing it again...

Thanks for that mate....I was there and remember it well.

Leeds fans rioted after the game and the ref, Tinkler if I remember rightly, was sitting in his car shitting himself trying to get out of the car park.

Great fun back then.

Brave performance from Leeds kids as they go down to our first defeat of the season 3-0 to Premiership Pompey with 2 goals coming in the last few minutes.

Good to see the back of the cup as we concentrate on the league.

Congrats on holding Pompey to only 3 goals.

Now you can get back to the important business of dropping a few points in the league.

Must say it was quite impressive considering the gap between the teams.

You'll know all about this dropping league points lark.

Cheers Gerry.

Leeds United boss Dennis Wise has been named as League One's manager of the month for August.

Despite starting the season with minus 15 points, Leeds have won all three of their league games, beating Tranmere, Southend and Nottingham Forest.

Kiss of death no doubt.

Minus 3 and Easy for Leeds United

1-0 Att: 26,856

A Tresor Kandol goal just before half-time sealed all 3 points in an entertaining match against fellow relegated side Luton Town.

The game was marred at the end by a bizarre bust up between Leeds managers old and new, as Kevin Blackwell and Dennis Wise had to be separated by various club staff and officials.

Petty management squabbles aside, Leeds United were yet again good for all 3 points as they continued to "stick two fingers up" at the Football League, and the chairmen that agreed on Leeds` 15 point deduction that handicapped the side before they had even begun.

It took just 10 minutes before Luton Town goalkeeper David Forde was tested, as Kandol had a go from long range with a low shot. Within the first half hour Luton failed to do anything of note, with David Bell coming the closest with a poor shot screwed wide.

There is somewhat of a blossoming partnership between Jermaine Beckford and Tresor Kandol, with the pair combining yet again for a goal as Beckford played the Congolese forward through on goal, with Kandol finishing nicely.

Luton Town danger man Paul Furlong had the ball in the back of the net shortly after half-time, though thankfully for Leeds fans everywhere, the referee`s assistant (read: lino) judged the former Birmingham City striker to have strayed into an offside position.

Towards the end of the game Luton pushed for an equaliser, yet struggled to break through a Leeds United defence full of confidence, and a goalkeeper in Ankergren who may just have read my preview, a clean sheet no doubt boosting his confidence.

A scuffle occurred on the touchline between the two sides coaching staff, with so many different versions of events it would be wrong to possibly comment as to what happened! Anyone who does know feel free to get in touch with Vital Leeds United via the usual channels!

Another 3 points, another chance to have a laugh at the rest of League One as Leeds United prove they are to be no pushovers this season, despite the handicap start. For those that are interested, without the completely ridiculous penalty imposed on Leeds, here is the League One top 10:

1. Leeds United 4 4 0 0 6 12
2. Leyton Orient 4 3 1 0 4 10
3. Carlisle 4 3 1 0 4 10
4. Hartlepool 4 3 0 1 5 9
5. Huddersfield 4 3 0 1 1 9
6. Tranmere 4 2 1 1 3 7
7. Yeovil 4 2 1 1 1 7
8. Luton 4 2 0 2 1 6
9. Bristol Rovers 4 1 3 0 1 6
10. Swindon 4 1 3 0 1 6 .

Indeed.

Can somebody please start a "Duffer will surely not win the lottery" thread" please.

Fair play to Dennis though. Love him.

Marching, are Leeds fans warming to the Wise/Poyet yet?

Good to see the players actually having some fight in them and pride for the shirt.

Leeds handed new sanction by FA

Leeds United have been barred from full membership of the Football Association after being unable to prove all their non-football creditors have been paid.

The League One side still owe unpaid tax and VAT to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) following their spell in administration earlier this year.

United will still be able to compete in all competitions, including the FA Cup.

However, they will be unable to vote at any FA general meetings or receive FA Cup final tickets, as other clubs do.

A statement on the club's website read: "The club has made an application to the FA to transfer full membership following administration.

"The Football Association have not yet approved this request as we have been unable to demonstrate that all non-football creditors have been satisfied.

"All monies owed to other football clubs and members of the football family have been met in full.

"The reason that non-football creditors have not yet been satisfied is that the CVA (Company Voluntary Arrangement) was not completed due to the stance of the HMRC.

"The club would prefer to be a full member of the FA, but it is also comfortable that not being a member will not prevent us from doing anything we need to do."

The club's failure to agree a CVA, as per the Football League's rules governing insolvency, has already cost them a 15-point penalty which the League imposed in early August.

However, the Yorkshire club have won their first four league games, reducing the deficit to minus three points.

S18 you utter bellend, this is all your fault. Look where Leeds are now you ronker! Starting this thread has ensured that Leeds' demise is less amusing.
It would please me if your death was agonising.

Good question Zidane....like the club said..

"The club would prefer to be a full member of the FA, but it is also comfortable that not being a member will not prevent us from doing anything we need to do."

Pointless punishment....and hopefully if/when we beat Hartlepool on Saturday we will be pointless too.

3 more points to go
Then we'll be on zero.

I presume that doesn't count if they somehow make the final themselves...?

I think the FA gets a section of the cup final tickets to hand out between themselves - one of the reasons there was all that allocation talk in last seasons cup final. I'm not 100% sure but surely if Leeds did reach the FA Cup Final their fans and any club officials would be allowed go

It doesn't matter really, I'm positive they won't get anywhere close to that situation.

We gotta' try and reverse the jinx in this thread..

Marching - I'm sure you will win the next match!
