Liverpool 'too reliant' on stars & other shite
By Alistair Magowan
Former Liverpool defender Stephane Henchoz says the Reds are too reliant on Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres to challenge for the Premier League. The 33-year-old, now at Blackburn, won the treble with Liverpool in 2001 but was one of the first to leave the club when Rafa Benitez joined in 2004. "If Gerrard and Torres are not playing at their best, you hardly see where the goals are coming from," Henchoz said. "They probably need two or three very good players if they want to compete." Gerrard and Torres have scored 30 of Liverpool's 55 league goals this season. I'm starting a coaching badge next week with some lads at Blackburn Stephane Henchoz Their title hopes were effectively dashed against Manchester United last Sunday when a 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford put them 14 points behind the reigning champions with seven games left. Henchoz left Anfield in January 2005 - just seven months after Benitez took over - and the defender made no secret of his anger at the way he had been treated by the Spaniard. The 33-year-old has not been impressed by Benitez's squad rotation policy this season. "The rotation system sometimes in the league was not the best," the Swiss told BBC Sport. "They drew too many times and if they kept their best XI, they would have won a few more games." On a personal level, Henchoz is on the verge of a comeback from a disrupted season at Ewood Park where he has had two operations on an injured knee. But with his contract up at the end of the season, he has already begun planning for the future. "I've been injured since September, (I've had) two operations and it did not go well at all," he said. "I'm hoping to be back in first-team training next week, and then it's nearly the end of the season so I will try to get back and play a few reserve games in April and then see what happens. "But I'm starting a coaching badge next week with some lads at Blackburn, but that takes a couple of years to do that. Then maybe, if the opportunity comes, why not try management?" Stephane Henchoz attended Your Game in Liverpool as a guest of the Swiss Embassy in London. The Swiss Embassy are supporting Your Game by taking the 2008 Your Game All Stars to Switzerland during the European Championship. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Few points here: Alistair Magowan must be a Liverpool fan! Its A Treble but not Thee Treble, so what the fuck is he on about. When someone says "the Treble" you know exactly its regarding: League + FA Cup + Champions League / Old European Cup, and its only Pool fans that cant get that into the heads, so why even shite on about them winning the Treble when its a Micky Mouser! Title hopes - they had title hopes at start of season like a few other clubs and due to them buying shite players and rotating shite players, the first 11 shite players never got a proper run of games, so things didnt pan out the way they wanted it to so they just blame Rafa's Rotation Policy. He rotates because the players are as bad as each other and he doesnt actually know who his best team is because he cant even bare to have "best and team" in the same sentence regarding his team selection as he's too embarassed at the crap that he's bought! Liverpool would never be close even with Liverpools "best" team playing every week bar injury - they're not good enough and not many of their players would get into the other top three's minimum squad of 22, nevermind their matchday squad! If Alistair Magowan had done his journalistic job correct he would of asked: "WHEN'S THE SWISS GIVING THE JEWS BACK THEIR MONEY FROM SAFEKEEPING BANK LODGEMENTS BEFORE THE 2nd WORLD WAR....PAL?????" |

Thats some pretty obvious journalism there. Everyone knows that if Liverpool had played their best players on a more regular basis they would have won the league this year.

He also says "They probably need two or three very good players if they want to compete." What a fucking joke - how many of they're players would get into United starting 11. You could say Gerrard and Torres. Torres up front with Rooney would be sweet but who would you replace in mid-field to start Gerrard the way he's playin at the moment: Anderson - Carrick - Scholes (probably our chosen 3). I wouldnt put Gerrard in our mid-field ahead of those guys!! They bloody well need more than 2 or 3 quality players to compete with United, we've a squad for of quality they dont even have a team of quality! |

He's clearly very good, though. Anyone who thinks otherwise is beyond repair. |

Henchoz won a unique treble of cups in 2001. Liverpool became the first side ever to complete every single fixture of every competition they played in.
Proper that was by any standards. 18 -5 - 7. |
