Martin Tyler

The man comes in for a lot of stick it seems, but for me, his commentary can make games and make moments all the better. Take yesterday for example, his commentary on that Mata free-kick almost gave me a stroke, as I seeing the shot, coupled with Tyler's commentary made me think that he'd scored... then when I realised DDG had saved it, I celebrated as if we'd scored a goal. My elation was greater then it perhaps would have been had it not been for Tyler's screaming MATAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

This, coupled with another stand out moment from this season (Ji Dong Won's goal against City... which again Tyler was superb on) and countless other moments down the years honestly makes me think that Tyler greatly improves the viewing experience.... especially in comparison with all the other commentators out there.

So do the Caf share the Tyler love-in? Or do ya'll think he's a gunner loving twat??

Also, videos are welcome... (I'd post some, but I'm at work...)

He is synonymous with many of our great goals over the years.

I have never found him to be bias at all, which some seem to think he is.

His best moment this season is when the Korean player won the game for Sunderland Vs City

I thought he was great yesterday myself. Still my favourite commentator when he bothers to make the effort, something a bit lacking of late as he grows older.

The problem for me is that his co commentators are usually Ray Wilkins or Alan Smith, who are shite. I liked the few times that Gary Neville was alongside him.

Yesterday's commentators on the feed I was watching were awful. Craig Burley and Clive Tyldesley (I think).

In a sea of crab, he is a lobster. Depending on how you rate your seafood, this analogy should cover everyone.

What a fucking moment that was... in fact, when I remember the goal, I tend to remember his commentary along with it.

Also his commentary on Torres' miss this season was superb... the yelp perfectly encapsulated the moment.

So all in all he's better than most. Not by huge margins, but he's a bit of a rarity compared to the other creatures. Not something you would eat everyday if you had the ideal choice though. Something you learn to appreciate a bit with more age.

I remember in some game a few months after Smash It! And Nicey had been sacked he said about some Wolves player "He's a good header of the ball - but not as good as my former colleague Mr. Gray". Then he went silent. It was a pretty intense moment.

He was in fact responding to Andy Gray who had asked him what he wanted on his sandwiches

Your analogy failed badly IMO

He is still one of the best around and should do more games.

His "Macheeeeeda" bit is one of my favourites.

LOL That catch phrase of Tyler's is the only thing that I don't like about him. He is the best commentator at puns and word play, though sometimes he over steps the mark and gets a little too poetic. In the Andy Gray era there was also, at times, a homoerotic vibe between the two, I don't miss that.

I don't really get annoyed by any commentator or pundit. Even the bitterness in Craig Burley's voice makes me laugh.

My favourite pundit was Peter Schmeichel. I remember when he chose goal of the month and he picked a goal that not one of the 20000 viewers that voted picked.

Apparently people were upset because he didn't have an orgasm when Valencia scored a fairly routine goal.

I usually defend Tyler but his "Fergie watch" bit irked me a little. As if he is the only fckin manager that checks his watch in the last bit of the game.

That was Alan Parry.

Yeah Martin Tyler is great but he definitely has a slight bias towards Arsenal. I've noticed when opposition teams score against them he usually sounds quite glum. Take Valencia's goal against them a few weeks back for instance.

He was pretty biased yesterday.

My 6 year old brother even asked me "how come the commentator shouts when Chelsea get a chance, but not for Man United?"

Just because he said that, doesn't mean he wasn't biased throughout the game.
