Anybody who thinks Steven Gerrard isn't world class is either blind or has an agenda against the lad. For that matter so are Lampard, Terry and Rooney.
If you think Gerrard or Terry or Lampard would be in a 22 man squad of the best players in the world then you're a soft lad.

Ferdinand and Rooney might make it into the squad, but that's it.

Not necessarily.

Players like Zanetti, Ibrahimovic, van Nistelrooy, Eto'o and many others could obviously have been included in place of players on my list.

There is obviously no such a thing as a defined 22 best players in the world.

But, the best English are as good as anyone.

Terry is a laughable selection (Chelsea have thenselves got a better centre half) and Gerrard not much better. Where are you going to play Stevie G? He isn't going to cut it in CM and there's a fair bit of competition for the "off the striker" role (Kaka for example).

Why is Terry a laughable selection? Name me all those centrehalves better than him.

Gerrard is a world class midfielder, and has been for years.

There are a string of better English ones let alone look world wide: Ferdinand, Carragher, King, Woodgate. Gerrard isn't very good as a central midfielder - he's positionally shite, gives the ball away all the time and can't control the game. That's why he doesn't play there any more.

Carragher, King and Woodgate are obviously not better than Terry - you're off your rocket.

Gerrard is a world class central midfielder.

Rocker. Repeating things without addressing the argument doesn't make them so. Where the fuck do you play Gerrard in your Galactic team? Instead of Kaka?

The ones that are without question in this squad are:

Buffon
Cech
Ferdinand
Nesta
Ronaldo
Messi
Kaka

The rest can probably be swapped for another 20-30 players.

Probably, just so long at the other 20-30 don't include Terry or Gerrard.

Of course.

You reckon Carragher is better than Terry.

Says it all.

Terry is over-rated because he is like some throw-back to 1980s british defending. In reality Ricardo Carvalho is twice the player, and thats just at Chelsea. He is never ever deserving of a place on a list of worlds greatest footballers.

World's greatest footballers, no?

World's greatest centrehalves, definitely.

Obviously this is all subjective but i can see the following centrebacks ahead of him...

Ferdinand
Vidic
Toure
Nesta
Carvalho

possibly Gallas.

and thats just like two seconds off the top of my head, there would be other dubious ones such as players who aren't on form at the moment ie Cannanvaro or Puyol. Plus there are players who do not play there all the time (Sergio Ramos), that i would rather see playing for Man United in that position.

Terry is a good defender made to look a lot better by mourinho's system and tactics. Without mourinho he's beginning to look like what we all know him to be, a good player but not world class.

Gerrard's a bit of an enigma, doesn't seem to have matured at all in terms of positioning and approach to the game, steaming about firing shots from stupid distances when there are much better options available, just like the best player in the school yard.
