No doubt he's a world class manager, but can he build a team without unlimited funds available and both Chelsea and City competing for every player he'll be interested in?
Further more, is he willing to stay long term? I don't think Mourinho's bored easily, but he never stays longer than 3 years at a club. What if he takes the United job, but is planning to coach the Portugal national club one day? Last and the most important point: his destructive and childish behavior has tarnished Real Madrid's reputation. I won't allow any coach to do that to my club, regardless of how great the manager is. I don't think his career goal in life is United. To him, Manchester United is another nice name on his CV. |

If he does leave at the end of the season we'll see how much he really wants the United job. I think he's the next Utd manager if he is willing to wait for it, but with SAF showing no signs of stopping (long may he continue) will Jose be able to resist City until SAF does retire?

In all honesty we have 0 clue of when Fergie is going to retire. So lets enjoy him while he's still here. |

Pep is undoubtedly a talented manager who's done very well but he inherited a nearly ideal situation in a club where he came through the ranks and is respected and trusted by everyone. Most managers don't have those breaks. |

Where's all this come from BTW? There's nothing on SSN or anything like that and wasn't there the same rumours last season?

Duncan Castles stated it as fact last night.

They did have a lot of talented youth players when he arrived, but their youth setup wasn't in an overly good state, and players like Busquets and Pedro weren't really expected to make it. Guardilola changed the whole youth setup, getting players to focus on their style of play from a very young age. It's a brilliant way for them to learn, and Guardiola deserves credit for this. He also didn't really inherit the best midfield in the world at all. Xavi was a top midfielder, as was Iniesta, but they were a shadow of the midfield force that they've become now. You can hardly call it a coincidence that they've massively upped their game since Guardiola went to Barcelona, can you? |

What a complete and utter load of wank.
If he DOES come here we are fucked. It would be the final step down the road that began with floating the club on the stock exchange, whoring our name and image to sell every product imaginable and ending up with the glazers, we'd kiss our dignity goodbye and to me there isnt a trophy in the world thats worth it. Can you imagine how that classless wanker would have handled the whole Evra race row, certainly not with the class SAF did, we would by now be as big a laughing stock as those slum dwellers down the east lancs rd. On the flip side, if he did come here we could sell the one product we dont, "utd brand tampons, make your twat as unpopular as the one in our dugout" |

So it's just some journo?
I've been back through Guillem's tweets and in 1 tweet he's saying it's fact and in the very next tweet he's saying "if". |

I wouldn't be surprised if he left after this year, as I've always thought his venture to Spain was a temporary placeholder until something interesting developed in England. Fergie doesn't appear to be going anywhere soon, so Jose may well just take a year or two off before taking his next job- which lets face it- will more than likely be at United at some point.
In any case, he can leave Madrid at the end of this year after having won the Copa del Rey, probably the league, and with a decent shout for the CL. Not surprisingly, Madrid are quite clearly a far better side than before he arrived |

Not sure he would be able to resist an offer from the richest club in the world though.

Naah, dont see him moving to City. He's alluded to wanting the United job in the past, moving to a club like city would totally rule him out. That said, i dont see him at Real for another 3yrs and i dont see SAF leaving before that.

Timing is everything in football though.
If he does leave in the summer I don't see him taking up to 3 years out waiting for the United job. |

It's not wank, its truth. Or we could just wait for SAF to go out in a blaze of glory and wait for Moyes to come in or someone else who can work with "a limited budget" Oh hang on Ole is getting the job

I'm sure Mourinho would love the United job more than anything else, and he'd easily be my first choice. But you can't expect him to put his career on hold and not take certain jobs just so he keeps his chances to get a job that he may get in two, three, five years - or never. |

It wouldn't surprise me if they replaced him with Mourinho even if they won the league to be honest, there's no loyalty in football these days. |

Add to that we dont have bottomless pits of cash like madrid and chelsea, and mourinhos transfers flop about 40% of the time......he is not some manegerial god, just a very good manager who has done well in very favourable positions. Porto: won the league with the biggest club in the country....although th CL win was a hell of an achievement, granted. Chelsea: won trophies with an unlimited budget, bought some great playrs and some utter shit. Inter: wonthe league with a side that had won it three times on the trot already, admittedly again won the cl against the odds Madrid: before he went there they were the second best side in the country, spent a fortune and they are still the second best team in the country. Add to this the man is a monumental bellend of john terry proportions and I can honestly say id rather we brought big ron back before jose. |

Its what he brings off the pitch that makes me not want him here. Too much goes around the man. That said, it'd take a man with serious balls to take over SAFs massive boots. Mourinho certainly has that. |

They may, but the City owners don't strike me as knee jerk as say, Abramovich. A 20 point improvement in the league and a 2nd place finish will be enough to keep Mancini in the job. He strikes me as increasingly settled, and when you factor in the Tevez debacle, Balotelli's distractions, and the African Cup, City's season will be considered a success if they narrowly lose the league on 85-90 points.

Do some of you actually believe Mourinho, probably the second best manager in the world, would take up an assistant job at Man utd? The main job a great job for sure (though not as desirable as some of you would believe imo, the task of following Ferguson is going to be an absolute bitch) but I really don't think Mourinho dreams of United and has Ferguson and Rooney posters in his room.
Can't see Ferguson leaving this season. He won't want to leave on a season where you got knocked out of the CL in the group stage and there's a risk of finishing the season with no trophies. That would 100% be unacceptable for him imo. Don't think City will fire Mancini, especially if he wins the league. Kenny will have immunity for a while if he wins the carling or FA cup. I'm not sure the extent to which Abrahmovich and him have burnt bridges. So that leaves us and Arsenal. Not sure I can see him taking either of those jobs tbh. So, in conclusion, after writing all that, I have no idea who he's going to manage next. He should start learning German. |
