Great player at his peak but undoubtedly overrated in the sense that he wasn't ever good enough to be listed amongst the very best yet frequently was.

Last time I check. These players are listed among the best of all times.

Pele, Puskas, Di Stefano, Maradona, Best, Beckenbauer, Cruyff, Platini, Zidane, Ronaldo and others.

Nedved is never part of that elite group. Frankly I have never see people claim that he is.

I always compared him to scholes, very similar in attributes and quality.
Anybody who thinks he was overrated, doesnt know football.

If he retires before the Juve game down in Melbourne I'll cry.

Favourite player outside of Arsenal!

Pa-vel Ned-ved! What a cracker!

The comparison to Scholes is bizarre. Scholes is one of the most natural talents you could ever seen. Nedved had a very little talent (he said that by himself) but his will and determination got him to the level where is he now. But I agree, he is underrated by some and overrated by some either. Pity that he never played in PL, I think it would be an ideal challenge for him.

I love Nedved, he is a wonderful player, a total pro and seems like a cracking guy.

His favourite film is braveheart!

To say he lacked tallent is rediculous, he was a complete player and extreamly influential. Wore his heart on his sleeve, i actually think i've seen him in tears on the pitch atleast 4 times.

Like Scholes, he is humble. To say that he has little natural talent and vision would be daft, or if you haven't watched many of the games he has played in.

I may get slated here but in Europe he would be considered a more complete player than Scholesy.

Personally I think Nedved is the 2nd best midfielder in Europe in the past 15 years or so, only behind Zidane due to the lack of memorable performances like that volley in the CL final...

I agree.

Arguably one of the top 5 midfielders in the last 15-20 years.

His coaches said that. Nedved alone said that. But yes, he maybe didn´t watch many of his own games.

World class,

but definetely not as good as Zidane, and a lil below giggs imo.

He does have a massive workrate, and not so many tricks like Zidane, which kinda make him underated.

But he is world class.

Class act.

-Technically excellent
-Excellent wing play
-Whips tremendous crosses with both foot
-Lashes long range shots with both foot like Scholesey
-Brave as feck
-Never stops running
-Chases back
-Leadership in abudance
-Not a media attention whore like Bex...

Top football man

I disagree mate, Mind you I am comparing both players as an attacking Midfielder. Both lethal from outside the box, excellent link up play and legends for both their respective teams.

Nedved was a physical beast with a fantastic engine. He could carry the ball forward all day long. More of an incisive passer than a link-up player in the sense scholes is - a playmaker.

Think his game is more similar to Gerrard's than Scholes. Action midfielders moreso than subtle technical ones, albeit with a great deal of technique to boot.

I'm glad there are plenty here who can appreciate the greatness of Pavel Nedved. A top player and a top competitor. Achieved so much in his career that plenty could only dream about.

One of the top 10 players of the past 15 years, without a shadow of a doubt. Just like Dennis Bergkamp, he's one of those player that we'll never see anyone similar like them. Shame he's retiring at the end of the season, watching Juve this season I thought he had enough left in the tank for at least one more season.

Fantastic player, one of my favorite wingers that I've had the chance to see play in my lifetime. Wouldn't go so far as to say he'd be in my all-time starting XI but clearly one of the best in the last 20 years.

I think his lack of real support comes from the fact he never played at one of the big names abroad i.e. in Spain or England. Could of done it in any of these leagues. Would of loved to have seen him at United.

I read a week ago he was in talks to play in Japan- maybe he considers playing in Japan retirement ? Think he could do a number for a MLS squad and help American football.

Sad day indeed.

I would like to see that top 10.

Off the top of my head the following players would be ahead of him:
Zidane, Fat Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Figo, Batistuta, Del Piero, Giggs, Henry, Bergkamp, Keane, Maldini, Cafu , Baggio

Del Piero? Cafu?
Nedved is better that both of them.

Nedved is on par with Figo, Giggs and maybe Keane.

That's it.
