I was more thinking of 'regular' recognition of Heysel than the one-off of that meeting tbh.

LFC seem to almost 'demand' black armbands and a silence by all of English football on the anniversary. I don't recall any examples of LFC players wearing armbands and asking for a minute's silence as regular commemoration of Heysel.

But - perhaps a diff thread could contain these remarks?

If a mod wants to edit it's fine by me.

Well none of their fans died, and it wasn't a domestic incident. So I don't think there's any onus on them, or English football to have one. Though I agree it would be a nice gesture.

But you're right... not the right thread for this kind of chat.
Everyone knows the truth about Heysel. There is nothing to uncover or anything hidden. English fans in general were a disgrace back then and Liverpool had some of the worse.

The blame was all put on them following the disaster. But a tragedy like this was on the cards from one of the english sets of fans. It happened to be them.

All clubs were banned for about 6 years from European competition.

It happened at the end of May so I guess Liverpool do not get to show in public any recognition of the day, as the season is over. But I would be shocked if they don't have some kind of event every year, that perhaps we do not get to see.

I didnt think there was much relevance to mentioning Heysel here either. Some louts decided to sing during a minutes silence for Hilsborough. We can all condemn that. Erica's post just seemed to be a bit of a WUM which sadly got a bite from me as I'm hungover.

Incidentally, I found this regarding Heysel.

There is a permanent memorial at Anfield, a memorial service is held on the anniversary with a 2 minute silence at the Anglican church, and the Town Hall bells ring 39 times.

Thanks Mockers - I suppose it's the timing in relation to our season that means I've not seen any 'on field' remembrance.

I don't know how true it is, I found it on a youtube comment. I'm taking it at it's word though.

For some strange reason they were all cheering on Fulham. They are anti-Wigan.

Fulham are a threat to your precious 8th place, you imbeciles!

RAWK are adopting the KKK official line - league position is irrelevant this year - progress is cup-oriented.

And this after a ref robbed them of a point at Old Trafford by denying a last minute penalty that there was no chance of them missing. Liverpool are always gaining from corruption.

Most probably they consider wigan as one of united's 'agents' in one of their conspiracy theories...

Without Rooney, Scholes, Ferdinand, Nani, Valencia, De Gea, Carrick, Evra, Rafael, Welbeck, and Evans, we're no better than Liverpoo.

Actually, scratch that, we'd still be better.
