Fletcher & Evra have been the outstanding candidates for us.
I don't watch many other teams (so it's easier to pick out attacking players) but Bent, Drogba & Fabregas have all stood out in that respect. Valencia?!? What. The. Fu..?!? |

It's between the following players for me:
Evra Fletcher Torres Defoe Van Persie I can't think of anyone from Chelsea whose been brilliant. They've been better as a team but noones standing out in my mind. Actually the more I think the harder this choice becomes. I feel a lot of players are having great seasons, but no one is standing out like Ronaldo & Vidic previous seasons. |

I still somewhat stand by my choice, imo Valencia is the best winger in the league and he's had a big impact right from the start, more than some of you might confess to. |

Fabregas seems to stand out for me although I probably haven't watched our rivals closely enough to decide. |

It's an interesting list. The likes of Giggs, Drogba and Bent can feel a little hard done by... but clearly there isn't a unanimous stand out player of the season so far
Don't know why some are complaining about it, everyone had the chance to put their entry in to me! |

I don't know what else to say if you think Valencia has been United's best player and the best winger in the league.

I meant to mention in mine but then promptly forgot to that Defoe has played well at international level, too. He's played well in the league for a smaller club than some of the others mentioned - and thus surrounded by worse players than, say, Fabregas - and has played well for England given the chance.

The last (and only) armadillo hunting story I heard involved the scaly beast getting stuck in a tunnel while trying to escape and efforts to pull it out by the tail failing, a stubby finger being inserted up its arse to induce it to loosen its grip. Sincher?

I was just thinking, if United go on a run (like they usually do) and Darren Fletcher maintains his excellent form and bangs in a few more screamers it isn't competely inconceivable that he could win a player of the year award or something is it?

If Rooney is our top scorer they'll give it to him instead, no matter what Fletcher does. |

If Chelsea win the league it'll be say Drogba or Lampard, whoever has the best season of the two, even if someone like Malouda was their best player for 90% of their matches till the end of the season. Malouda might get the internal club award as player of the season, showing that the club, players and supporters respect his contribution, but I dont think he'd get the league award as he isnt a high profile player. |

Not being scottish maybe.
There is a clear english bias which is completely understandable. But it's also true about profile. I mean look at the shortlist for the world player of the year or ballon d'or, it's just the same faces even if they have been shit or injured all season. |

Neither Giggs nor Arshaving are out-and-out wingers though, Arshavin is more of a wide striker and Giggs is more of a playmaking wideman cutting inside. I'm talking wingers running up and down providing crosses at chance. Lennon is a very good winger on the other hand, but I don't think the diffrence between the two is that big.

no one's talking about who will win player of the year, we are talking about who we think IN OUR OPINION has been the best so far, everyone knows the actual player of the year award is useless

I went for Vermaelen because he has had a good impact and because I thought I'd go for a less obvious choice.

Secondly, his season's tally for Spurs so far is 12 (not 10), 11 of which have been league goals. This makes him currently the Prem's top scorer despite having missed 3 games due to suspension - otherwise he'd have likely scored even more. Scoring 12 goals in 13 games (including 1 sub appearance) for Spurs - plus 3 goals for England - makes him at least a worthy nominee for player of the season so far. |
