Did you actually bother reading the whole article? Or if that is too difficult, just the very next line of the quote you lifted?

Although not separately analysed, some of the rise is surely also due to performance bonuses following Champions League success.

No I didn't bother to read the whole article I just used it to back up my claim that Redknapp had sent your wages 'into orbit', which Swiss Tony did quite neatly. That has to be considered in the light of no CL windfall this season and wages for the likes of Adebayor (even at 60%) and Parker.

I don't think he knows the names of any of the clubs they've played in Europe this season. He keeps calling them the Greek team, the Russian team etc.

Well, I'll make this simple shall I?

Our managers have no control over the financial aspect of the club. Levy negotiates transfer fees with clubs and wages with players and agents. He has veto power over player acquisitions by the manager. All they do is provide a list of targets.

Since 2006, our revenue has increased by 121%. Our wage bill has increased by 124% in that period, of which Redknap has been manager for 3 years. That's consistent with increases in revenue.

Our wage bill will have gone up with entry into CL. That much is obvious. I assume all our players will have had such clauses inserted into their contracts.

The wage bill is still a significant way behind our 5 competitors, a full 20 million or so behind the next highest, 33 million behind you and almost 90 million behind City.

Having made a pre-tax profit in 6 of the past 7 seasons, despite spending money on planning permission ,buying property around the stadium and reducing our debt etc, forgive me if I don't cry with despair at the state of my club's finances just yet.

Parker and Adebayor will be receiving a max of 140k between them. We only pay 40% of Adebayor's wages. And we've trimmed a lot of the fat last summer and will likely do so again next.

At the end of last season, our wage to turnover ratio was 56%. Obviously without CL this season, this will go up but not to unsustainable levels, especially if we qualify again.

I believe we've made a net profit of 25 million in player transfers since Redknapp arrived. The last Deloitte rankings had us with the 12th highest revenue in the world and last season will probably push us up to the top 10. Hardly Portsmouth-esque.

Despite you using an out of context quote to prove you point, he concludes that

'In any case, they have done very well to compete at the highest levels without compromising the financial future of the club.'

Hope that helps.

not sure what happened at the Rovers game yesterday as I've only read 'Arry's side of events. from his side it sounds like the locals were hurling some disgusting abuse towards him so whatever gesture he gives back is well deserved imo.

what d'ya expect him to do - just take it?

Yes. Players are expected to compose themselves when being abused. Shouldn't the same composure (and even more) be required from the manager?

he didn't jump into the crowd ala Cantona, supposedly he made a "gesture".

they're big lads when in a crowd. doubt any one of them would say what they (allegedly) said if they were one on one with him.

I'm not saying that it's wrong to react.. But them's the rules and you have to abide by them.

I've no problem with that so long as it's the same rules for the big lads too. turf 'em out if they're being abusive.
I really dislike people like that when they hide in crowds.

rant over.

A lot of Rovers fans are just utter scum. They've a huge (relative to the league) amount of fans who are banned completely. Nothing to with the club either.

Half of them couldnt tell tell you their own starting 11. They play in green and white, thats enough for some fuck heads

Look mate, you're the one who's being a bit simple, of course Redknapp has a big influence on the wage bill ballooning by 36%, Levy may hold the ultimate financial say (as do all CEOs) but Arry's the one who actually recruited these players and takes the credit for their success or otherwise.

The basic point is that revenue (income) has kept pace with this rise in the wage bill, thus the wages/turnover ratio remains more or less unchanged and remains one of the healthiest ratios in the Prem.

Thus your attempt to focus on wages alone - ánd thus portray Harry as a financial disaster - falls entirely flat.

Hmmm... Spurs may have spent less than City but he's talking out his arse when he tries to portray Spurs as a club that doesn't splash the cash. Over the last 8 years their net spend is higher than United's (gross spending is very similar and higher over the last five years)

Bit of a classless thing to slag the club which has agreed to give Spurs their main striker for half the wages.

Every week Redknapp looks slightly more like he should be sitting in an armchair in the corner of a darkened living room somewhere, knitting another jumper for his grandson.
