With Cristiano it's always polemic.
Some of the Portuguese press and FA officials have taken it as a chance to get in a few cheap shots at Ronaldo - they haven't forgiven him for not winning them the Euro2008s, and he's been under a lot of pressure. Queiroz, who needs Ron, has been careful to blame Real Madrid for "failing to communicate" rather than accuse them of lying (because Ron would also be accused in that situation). The idea they put him on the plane with flu symptoms, having played him when he was already running a temperaure was an own goal, so they tried to be coy and ended up failing to tell CQ what was happening and leaving the press free to speculate on swine flu. Two days on and and according to the press his temperature's back to normal and he was in the gym with Madrid today. I must admit, I'd have thought that in the interests of damage limitation they would have told him to stay home for a few days longer. Maybe they did? In which case they've still got a lot to learn about their shiny new star. |

Don't take this the wrong way, jojojo, but your interest in Ronaldo seems to be bordering on obssession. Do you take this amount of interest in any other ex-United players?

However I did go and watch Beckham (and them other blokes) play a few times when he was visiting my part of Spain. Not because I was ever a particular fan of Beckham, even when he was with us, but because I tend to be more willing to drive to a game if it's got the extra spice of an ex-United player, or a current one if it's an international, or a future one if I've been reading the transfer forum. Ron's a special case. Best player I've seen since in a United shirt Best so I'm bound to watch him play. I follow the news stories because it's macabrely fascinating to see Madrid, who were convinced they could handle Ron's P.R. better than we did, falling on their arses. |

Fair enough. That would probably explain why you're more interested than most of the rest of us in circus Real Madrid. |

We've threads in here about Torres, Messi, Pato, Schevenko, Denilson - I don't think a Ronaldo one is cause for complaint.
He's having a bad time - in fact I reckon a 70m bid and he's ours! They've sold the shirts, they've had the party - they got what they wanted. On field he'd been looking quite poor, perked up during the Juventus game, played well in Toronto. He was poor against DC United, but was already coming down with flu. Madrid didn't let him travel for Portugal's friendly (because of the flu) and the Portuguese FA had a go at him and Madrid in the press (he's probably cost them 1m Euros by missing two friendlies now). He didn't play well in Dortmund, despite his team winning 5-0 and even Marca and AS are saying he looks nervous (which he does - remember the "not quite himself" Ron from last autumn, that's who they've got). The Barca press are loving it. The Portugal criticism upset him (the fact that they may well fail to qualify for the WC and he's being blamed for it by the Portuguese press doesn't help) and he had a go at the Portuguese FA in a TV interview as he came off after the Dortmund match. Meanwhile - off the field his ex is cashing in, in some of the most embarassing ways possible and he's pretty much under house arrest in Madrid. Oh, yeah - and he still gets booed all the time (by opposing fans) even though he's not actually misbehaving. Missing us already

Two penalties and one really good goal that he set up with a one-two with Benzema. A couple of his teammates have got lucky with freekicks that came back at them when the keeper couldn't hold them. But he's not looking as sharp up front as Benzema, Higuain, Kaka, Robben or even Raul - even though away from the box he looks good with the other fast players like Benzema, Higuain, Kaka.
Injured? No, he had that bout of flu or whatever. He's taken a couple of obviously nasty knocks, including one that could have been serious - but nothing that's kept him out of a game. |

when i've seen them he's just been the same as he was with united last season. Bagging the odd goal, shooting alot and generally looking moody and out of touch a bit. He'll need to pick it up or his beloved Madrid will be getting man fucked by Barcelona.

He will regain his form though, he had two brilliant years in a row and young players like him are always going to have a longer dip in form for some time. Great player, mind you. |

2006/07 and 2007/08 were his best years, he was literally brilliant. I also think he was still class and great last season, but as he started his season a bit off-form due to injury I usually don't mention it.

Sir Alex Ferguson told Cristiano Ronaldo that with Real Madrid making their forward line so strong that he may end up playing at the back, the Portuguese star has revealed.
The Scot joked with the player that he helped propel to the top of the world stage after it was decided that he would leave Old Trafford following a six-year spell with the Red Devils. Ronaldo recognised that Ferguson was only wishing him well and enjoyed the joke with the man that has been often credited as making him the complete player he is today. “He said ‘congratulations’. I think he knew it was the right time for me to move on and I think he acknowledged that I needed to go," he told Sport magazine. “He joked with me and told me that with all the offensive players at Real Madrid, I’d end up playing as a central defender. “That was just his way of saying 'good luck, son'. “I did not get a chance to say goodbye to the fans but I hope they know that I enjoyed every moment playing at Old Trafford and would like to thank them for their support throughout the years. "Even in the most difficult times I have always felt their support.” Did you here that Tevez? you little cunt. |

“After Barça battered Real Madrid 6-2,” Ferguson reported, “our players were telling Cristiano that if he goes to the Bernabeu he’ll have to play centre-half.”
fergie said that in some interview after the season ended |

Lass was Madrid's star man again tonight - who'd a thought it
![]() Kaka's looking good amd Benzema's had some good games, but not tonight. Ron's still at the meh stage - took the penalty well, but otherwise trying hard and not getting there. He says he'll get better and so will the team and it's just good that they won (3-2) while they're improving. The Madrid press are currently resisting the temptation to go directly for the jugular, though they're getting twitchier by the minute. |

I watched it for 15mins before the milan derby and saw Ronaldo take a first touch even i would have been ashamed of. By all accounts it sounded like he was rather poor. Going by the 30mins i watched where he gave the ball away and offered little attacking threat and going by the post match comments.
