It's ever since Sky won more of the packages.
They only tend to show 3 live games per weekend (Sat-Mon) this season whereas last season it used to be 4. |

But should it be on TV? What about Champions League games
![]() And we've had one such weekend already: TV Fixtures, and games moved for TV. |

Why does it vary, is simply just because Sky decided there weren't enough interesting matches this round? |

I'll never understand that thinking, but instead of arguing the toss over it, I'll just quote the last debate I had on this subject and save us all the trouble and time of me calling you all bonkers...

Last year there was usually 4 games per weekend. Sky then won more packages from ESPN. There are now usually 3. This weekend there are 2 live games on Sunday and 1 on Monday (I think). |

There needs to be more fairness to it. That is my only problem with it. For the group stages, all the European teams should play Saturday before, Europe midweek, Sunday after, then Carling Cup Wednesday, then Saturday again.
Something a bit similar should happen for the knock outs too. But agree with Top, whats wrong with a 5:00 kickoff really? |

To be honest I would Hate it to go back to every game at the same time.
Simply because I love watching football and the way it is now we get to see loads of games. Anyways this weekend is almost standard apart from Saturday. We still get 3 normal live games and one on a stream (sadly that is Utd) |

Ohhhhhhh, when I was a boy....all the football matches began at 3.00pm saturday, it meant no one knew what was going on to a certain extent..which meant when Fergie says, you just have to concentrate on what you are doing and not worry about the others...it really was the case.

But seriously, it would help the English teams to get them more rest before and after European nights. Carling Cup games get almost an entire team change (and we are talking pre-semi final), so make them Sunday-Wednesday-Saturday Spoiler
And stick to that format making it very fair. |

I remember in the midst of time, early 70's I think, didn't they used to show football on the TV on a Saturday afternoon but they had to stop it because of some campaign that nothing was getting done on Saturday afternoons because too many blokes were watching football & not going shopping with the wife or something? This was long before Sunday trading.
Or am I making this up? I was very young at the time. Does anyone know what it was all about? |

I like to goto Old Trafford and watch the game at 3pm, then goto the pub afterwards and watch the afternoon game at 5'ish. Tomorrow I'm forced to goto the bishops blaise and listen to boilie. Although I don't mind the fella. Would prefer a 5pm city v spurs game or something.

I prefer it when games are at 3pm on a Saturday. There's nothing like leaving the football, going home, and hearing what all of the Premier League scores were. I hate it when there's only three or four on a Saturday afternoon.

So those 2 seconds of pure joy you get form being told the scores are more exciting than getting to watch 2x90 minutes of intense Premier League football when we've got matches at 12.45 and 17.30? |

Wenger is just echoing Fergie's thoughts from earlier this season:

Anyway, 3pm kick-offs are preferable for certain fans (y'know, the ones who actually attend the games). But pretty dull for those of us who don't (or can't). |

Premier League teams do not get enough help in Europe. For us, this Christmas Period has been far better than ones previously, we didn't play 30th Dec - 1st Jan |

It is a little sad that I've become so used to the bastardized kick off times that a Saturday of 3's does seem a bit of an oddity.
It's now even a long time ago that Sky only had one 4pm Sunday game plus an occasional Monday night. That seemed perfect to me (although Monday night's aren't convenient for traveling fans I know) because it meant the games that were shown were likely to be the game of the week and have that special aura of being televised. Now a televised football match is like the junkie's middle-of-the-afternoon hit, you barely feel it and just satisfies a kind of craving. I dunno actually, that could easily be a load of arse. |

Also, part of the fun of a whole Saturday schedule was the fact that watching Granstand really was the highlight of my Saturday afternoons as a kid. Now it would just seem like a shitty diet where you deprive yourself of processed food and only eat what's naturally grown; pointless.

You are a fucking small time idiot if you think your little joy of being a matchgoing fan (which is already a big fucking privilege in itself) "hearing the scores as you leave the stadium" should carry more weight than the millions of fans just loving football and wanting to see as much as possible live.
