Rangers have usually been able to do more or less what they want in Scotland.

Apparently they're currently demanding that the season be extended in the wake of their draw with Hibs at the weekend. They want more time to rest between games in the run-in. The SPL have so far resisted them, thanks in part to a threat of legal action from Celtic, but they're now rumoured to be about to cave in following pressure from the SFA.

It seems odd that the Scottish footballing authorities are on the verge of taking action to privilege one team over all the others in the league, but there you go. Welcome to Scotland.

Aye. The SFA tried to force the SPL to do it, but they weren't having any of it. It would benefit Rangers but would have a negative effect on every other team in the top 6. It didn't stop (ex-Rangers striker) SFA chief Gordon Smith from trying to force it through, but he was powerless.

Whereas Rangers winning the UEFA Cup would boost the co-efficient, improve the reputation of Scottish football and benefit other teams in the top 6.

Some people can't see the wood for the trees.

It wouldn't benefit anyone other than Rangers, mate.

And the co-efficient?

I keep hoping that one day, during the old firm derby, both clubs will just spontaneously combust.

Aye the fact the SPL has a better co-efficient ranking this season than Serie A will only benefit Rangers.

Why is there a fixture backlog?

- Rangers will play 68 games this season, probably at least 5/6 more than any other team in Europe.
- Motherwell's groundsharing arrangement with Gretna has led to a spate of cancellations
- death of Phil O'Donnell
- cancellation of Rangers-Gretna prior to Lyon match
- cancellation of all fixtures prior to Scotland - Italy match.

So let's look at the precedents:

- 2003 UEFA Cup Final: Celtic get a week off to prepare
- Scotland v Italy final Euro 2008 qualifying match: Scotland get 2 weeks to prepare
- Russian FA cancel all Zenit St Petersburg fixtures, getting 2 weeks to prepare

Meanwhile, Rangers are offered a whole 4 days off before the UEFA Cup Final, on the back of playing every midweek since early January.

To be honest given I'd rather win the UEFA, I'm happy to play 4 games in a week after the final, provided we get a few days to prepare for it.

Rangers are annoying. They're sort of really shit, but their defensive tactics have taken them a long way.

the spl is a fucking joke, right now with it being so tight at the top the refs are all shiting themselfs and wont give decisions against rangers or celtic.... they may aswell just play each other for the title....fucking joke of a league. The exciting bit is who will get 3rd place. But thats been ruined now cos united needed to get something from rangers and were cheated out of any chance in that happening.....now we play celtic in the last game. Is no point in turning up really

I hate both Rangers and Celtic, but after what Rangers did to Manchester on Wednesday (resulting in actual Mancunians being denied big screens because of what the fucking Huns did) then I'll laugh to see them piss their historic season away.

First the UEFA Cup final to Zenit, and now the SPL to Celtic. They'll still win the two domestic cups, but, frankly, who gives a shit about them?

There appear to be a lot of Celts frequenting this site who think United fans should give a flying fuck about them.

However, anyone who was on the Stretford End for their last visit will be able to confirm that the 'love in' is purely one way.

Fuck Rangers, fuck Celtic. Small-time bigotted cunts the lots of 'em.
