Steven Gerrard

His ridiculous diving aside, Gerrard is a great player, easily one of the best attacking midfielders in the world. Would probably walk into most teams in the world and will be a key player for England's success in the upcoming WC.

Having said all that, he'll turn 30 at the end of this season and Liverpool look like the club in turmoil at the moment. It's a well documented fact that he was approached by Chelsea on two different occasions in the past and at one point was seriously tempted to switch sides which prompted the Anfield faithful to engage in shirt burning rituals and death threats to his family.Stevie then decided at the last moment to stick with his hometown club in hope that they will improve enough to bring the coveted #19 home within the next few years.

That was July 2005 with the CL win still fresh in everybody's memory. Now, over four years later and with only 2006 FA Cup win added to his resume I wonder if his plans may have changed. 30 is a serious age for a footballer, the body is getting on a bit, injuries happen more often and before you know it it's over.

I think this season's end will be the time for Gerrard to make a choice. Unless Liverpool are taken over in a City like fashion by some oil sheik and invest heavily in improving the squad, they're likely to continue to struggle. With an emergence of City's fortune plus Tottenham and Villa getting into the mix, even finishing in the top four is no longer a guarantee, as for title aspirations, they're gone already.Benitez lives on a borrowed time and the team needs a new manager with new ideas and new players and without an instant and massive investment who knows how long it will take for a new man to get the club back to the top.

Will Gerrard stay or will he move? He won't come to United for obvious reasons and Chelsea affair is a thing of the past for both parties involved.

City is an emerging force and can afford pretty much anybody. Will he?

If Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions League then there is every chance that both of Torres and Gerrard will leave. Both to Citeh? Could happen.

Oh and i can't believe you wrote that much about Gerrard's ability.

He'll stay at Liverpool till he retires. Whether or not he wins anything there is a different matter.

He's been very poor this season. Whether that's down to age or just a bad spell of a form, I don't know, but those who say he relies on the physical side of his game too heavily to be able to go on playing into his 30s at a high level may have a point.

I don't think it'd be worth it for Chelsea to go after him. They have three world class CMs as it is, and are not short of attacking options. The amount of money it would take to get Liverpool to release him probably won't be good value for Chelsea, because they just don't know what they would be getting out of him next season (unlike the saga 4 or 5 years ago, when everyone knew that he would have been brilliant). City might fancy it, but he'd have a job trying to justify such a move without admitting he's doing it solely for the money.

I think he'll stay out his career at Liverpool. 3 or 4 more miserable years maybe.

He must be having doubts again in his mind, the same doubts he had 4-5 years ago when he was seriously tempted by Chelsea. I honestly can't see either of them going down that path again. He'll never come to us and I don't see him going to City either. If he does indeed leave (and that's a big if), then I can see him leaving the PL altogether and going abroad. Of course, he might stay with Liverpool until he hangs up his boots but does he want to risk another a few seasons potentially without a league title and Liverpool in dire straights? I think we'll just wait and see, Torres though is completely different. If Liverpool fail to get a CL spot this season and if they fail again to put a fight for the title next season, then he'll be away.

I don't see him leaving, he's reached thirty and I can see his level of performances declining in the same way Keane did after he turned 30 odd. Don't think he will go to City or Chelsea and so if he does leave it will probably to Madrid where he will get shunted out wide as a sort of right winger/cover Ramos's arse when he goes forward.

think he will end his career at liverpool , unless the owners need money in which case he might have a good enough excuse to try his luck elsewhere

dont think torres will leave at the end of the season either , irrespective of where liverpool finish

He wont. He just threatened to go to Chelsea to hold Liverpool to ransom. The prick.

I could actually see him doing well in Italy in his 30s. Could join AC Milan and get anothet 5 or so years out of his career. He would do well there.

Yep. He relies a lot of his physical prowess, not sure if he can "re-invent" himself the way Giggs has done once he loses his pace. If he can't he'll have no more than 1 or 2 good seasons left. He might be tempted to move soon. I see Torres staying for a fair bit longer, unfortunately.

Do you guys think that Torres and Reina would stay if Rafa gets the sack, say, one month from now, and they don't even make it into top 4 by the end of the season? Are they really his favorite boyhood club or is that bs?

I think having Benitez there was a big reason why Torres joined Liverpool. If Rafa gets the boot and things don't improve dramatically anytime soon I don't see what would keep Torres,Reina or Mascherano for that matter at Merseyside.

I think Torres will stay there for a long time.

I think the same of Benitez.

And there's no chance of Gerrard leaving them at this stage.

Yeah I thought that the thread was going to be about how he's winding down his career. Instead it's about whether he should move to a bigger club. It's getting dropped he should be worried about, if they were any good he'd have to fight for his place.

It depends where Benitez ends up as to where Torres goes. If he goes to City, you might see Torres switching to them. He wouldn;t follow him to Real, as he is an Atletico product, and besides Benitez would only last 6 months there

As shit as Liverpool are at the moment, Gerrard is still a top player and would be a starter for pretty much any team in Europe, except maybe Barca.

I couldn't believe it when he was booked for a scissor foul, the commentaters were feeling sorry for him - and then the caption came up saying it was his first booking of the season. How did he manage that? He should have had many with all the diving and studs up tackles he does.

He geniunely looks uninterested this season. After their 'heroics' of last season, they were all bigging themselves up for this season, this was supposed to be their season, like really their season this time.

It hasn't gone to plan, so it's plainly obvious to see he's pissed off.

Passed his best....injuries and having to carry that abysmal shower for years have taken its toll on the bloke, maybe a new challenge is what he needs to find himself again because hes going backwards at a serious rate of knots at that club.

Hes no spring chicken anymore either, best days are behind him i think.
