The sarcastic cheering EVERY time he touched the ball, for the whole 90 mins, really rattled him. Not often you see the crowd actually rattle someone, but on that day I really think we did. Also nearly pissed myself at the prolonged cheer when his name was read out on the team-sheet. Great day that. |

The Euros are in June, aren't they? Imagine if Terry captained England to the trophy (I know, I know, but just imagine) and a couple of weeks later he was convicted for racial abuse of one of the other players' brothers.

The Suarez/Evra incident also happened in October 2011, yet that's been fully investigated and a verdict given following a hearing.
Why is Terry's trial delayed by such a long time? Also, why is the maximum fine for this offence only £2,500 when Suarez was fined £40,000? Something dodgy about this.....no surprise there. |

I suspect the real reason for this is that he wants to go to the European Championships, and he knows that won't happen if he's found guilty.
What's going to be very interesting is, if the courts find him not guilty, how the FA will treat this. It might well be that Terry gets cleared because it can't be proven beyond reasonable doubt, but the FA's standard of proof is significantly lower, requiring only balance of probabilities. It would be very difficult though, to charge a man with an offence when in the eyes of the general public he has already been proven innocent. |

Well, thinking about it, it's not THAT absurd, as any verdict made by the FA will surely impact the jury and make a fair trial impossible. But it's not quite right that, as you said, he could captain England (alongside Rio) to the Euros, then get found guilty of racial abuse shortly after.
