Are there any more stupid, meaningless friendlies

Before the end of the season?

Nothing until mid/late May, after the club season is over.

Well, we want United to win trophies. That's the most important thing, Christofaux.

I would agree with that, you have a new manager and he needs games to see what the side is all about. Due to the fixtures he has limited oppertunities to try things before important games so i honesty think that these games are very important for preperation.

National teams do not get pre season tours or spend alot of time together as a team. Qualification is extreamly difficult, even the european minnows can cause teams problems these days.

But if you would rather England went into their group without a single match under Capello and then expect some miraculous change in fortunes then that is fine by me

Yeah who against? England like everyone else will have the dates down for when they can play friendlies before the qualifiers start in October. I don't know exactly but i know that scotland had the game against Croatia and then 2 more before we start qualifiers. Is 3 games enough? probably not but it is better than nothing.

The could quite easily play 3 or 4 games over the summer against top opposition (remember this is Euros, no american teams in it..)

I'd much rather them do this than play one when there is 7 games to go in possibly the best league finish for a few years...

I agree but fact is international football only has certain dates/times where clubs must release their players for international duty. It means that when you do have a official FIFA International match date you would want to use it. I'm sure all the teams would rather have the players in pre-season with their club than arsing about playing south american teams to try and get ready for world cup qualification.

No but we could use the dates of the Euros (clubs must release players) to play these games as were not in the euros... would suit everyone then.
