We have missed the train; should have signed him.

Former Red Devil joins Odense

Sun 20 Jul, 10:30 PM

Former Manchester United midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba has joined Danish side Odense on a two-year contract. The Cameroon international had been playing for Qatar Sports Club, but has now opted to try his luck in Denmark.

Djemba-Djemba once cost Manchester United £3.5million, although he failed to prove himself in England despite spells with Aston Villa and Burnley.

The 27-year-old is now hoping a fresh challenge will help bring out the sort of form Sir Alex Ferguson hoped he had signed in 2003.

"I'm really happy to have joined the Danish side," he told skysports.com. "It's a new challenge and hopefully I will rediscover myself.

"My experience in the Premier League was fantastic. It should have been a success, however, I will come back.

"Any player signed by Sir Alex Ferguson is a good player. I will work hard for my new team and try and win silverware in Denmark and Europe."

I was quoting Scolari. Did he not say something about a train?

Don't know much about him but he's the new Keane, apparently.

Eric Djemba-Djemba. He had a great chance to be a success here but he blew it big time.

I remembered the first game of 2003/04, and he played like a man possessed. I thought he would eventually replace Keano. Now that feels just plain wrong.

What silverware is he planning to win in Europe with Odense?

If his abilities were as high as his ambitions are, he'd be among world's best midfielders I imagine.

There is a cup called Royal League between the Scandinavian teams. That's the biggest trophy you can win in Europe...

Saw him v Villa the other day.

He's been eating at the same buffet as Ricky Hatton and Wayne Rooney all summer.

I was an enthusiastic supporter of Djemba in his early days with us, and had high hopes he would go on to be a fantastic midfielder. He seemed to have the combatative element to his game we lacked at that time.

I think he lacked the work ethic to make it as a top level footballer. I still think in terms of actual ability he wasnt too far off - certainly could have done a job at Villa.

Quite possibly the worst performance ive ever seen by a player in a United shirt was DJx2 versus Lyon in the CL. Absolutely no effort whatsoever. Disgraceful actually

Worse than Carrick against Birmingham at OT last season?
