Wenger on Diaby's tackle.

"It was a real mental test today. It looked like everything was going against us, but I am very proud of the team because they gave absolutely everything.
I have no complaints about the red card. I feel it was not an aggressive desire - but it was a fraction high."

I was just about to start a thread about this. As soon as I saw the red card, I was eager in anticipation of his comments.

was it "slightly high" then? Or did Wenger just see what he wanted to?

Was a terrible tackle and deserved the red card. I don't know what he was thinking there and just dived in completely missing the ball, very irresponsible from him. Wouldn't call him a dirty player but he does sometimes have this habit of just diving in to win the ball, problem is he is hopeless at it.

Studs up to a standing leg. It looked like Diaby caught him just above his shin gaurd.

Definite red.

I've seen it now, looks to be roughly about the same level as the Taylor challenge, thankfully for all concerned not the same result. A good example there to judge the bias of a manager to contrast the two statements about that incident and the Taylor one (though obviously you would expect stronger wording based on the effect)

It was a horrible tackle, it looked to me as if he aimed for his standing leg imo, only Diaby will know for sure though. Deserved red.

Looked to me like he purposely went for the bloke's leg. If he was aiming for the ball, then he deserved the red simply for making such a shite effort of it.

It'd be amusing to see Wenger put on the spot about his comments re: Taylor, and a couple of the "tackles" his players have made since. Wont happen though

The main difference is with Taylor he went in full blooded and just went straight through, you can see Diaby's knee is slightly bent so even though he caught him he didn't go in with the kind of force Taylor did. Still was a horrible tackle by Diaby

Definately deserved a red, he didnt go for the ball. I wonder if Arsenal would of own if Diaby stayed on the field.

Definitely a red for Diaby. Bolton deserve relegation after this performance.

How can you lose a game when you are 2-0 ahead and have one more player?

Well done.

Pity it wasn't Fabregas, because without Diaby they actually played much better. Diaby is fucking shite, could be the next Djemba Djemba.

They just showed side by side replays of the tackle on Super Sunday + and it was much more aggressive, IMO, than Taylor's was on Eduardo. The only difference was that unfortunately Eduardo's studs locked into the pitch and he had a serious injury. It coulda happened in Diaby's instance but, luckily the pitch was really wet and tore up so there wasn't much for the other guy's studs to lock into apparantly which was good for him, but even better for Diaby!
