That on top of making around 60 mil in player sales, 60 mil they could have made in June/July and utilized.

Yep, and his frustrations should be aimed at Arsenal's board and Wenger, not United fans on Redcafe. Although, it's sad seeing them in this predicament, because they're a proper club unlike Chelsea and City. We're going to find City a tough nut to crack, they've got a bottomless pit of cash.. but as someone said, he didn't exactly show any sympathy for Spurs getting slaughtered by the Berties, so he's clearly a hypocrite...one who should look closer to home.

He wanted us to have some regret about beating arsenal 8-2. That's epic stuff really.

The Sunday Times today states that he has £80 million in the coffers.

We still had Henry Bergkamp Campbell Silva Cole Pires etc at the club when we reached the CL final in Paris in 2006.

That side was capable of getting far even though on the wane. Criminally Wenger thought lets get rid of them and replace them with 11 Theo Walcotts.

Just to be brief he did'nt consider Chelsea Utd and City would thrown gargantuan sheds of money to get what they wanted to keep ahead of the pack he believed Fabregas would take us onwards. Fine but he should have supported him with players of quality. Found a beaut in Flamini to compliment the young Cesc and promptly threw him to the lions for wanting a few grand a week more but kept the fantastic Eboue

Within months Hleb Silva Lunberg were out and our midfield got 'lighter' and lighter with Rosicky Denilson Diaby and Arshavin. He's never really planned this properly - arrogance in a bizarre belief that this youth would flourish against world class experienced talent at Utd Chelsea City Barca etc

It was never going to have the legs. That's without discussing the defensive and keeping deficiencies

It's obvious to me where we were going and where the final destination of this ludicrous experiment would end and now your'e looking right at it mate - eye of the storm

You know what - I want to disagree, I want to defend Wenger against that post, but I really can't. History is proving that the 04 side was dismantled far too quickly, and it's difficult to argue that the over 30s policy is ludicrous. The only thing I can take issue with is Flamini, which I don't think was anyone's fault really. I imagine Pete will embrace taking this post apart though.

£150 Million over three years, plus they report every September so the next figures will arrive shortly.

Irrespective of whether you believe the Wenger line or the board line, it will have gone to dividends. Whilst Arsenal charge absurd ticket prices.

I'm not asking for sympathy, I'm saying that watching Arsenal become shite isn't great for football when the team that takes their place at the top table is Man City who are only there because they've spent £400m. Not really that controversial.

TBH he's accomplished the opposite. I had a tinge of sympathy for the Arsenal kids and fans who must feel shattered.

After reading Alastair's ramblings though.....

Genuine question but are the over 30s policy and the situation of Flamini and Nasri Wengers fault or are they decisions made by the board?

Yet watching the same City, who've spent that same 400million, battering Spurs is brilliant.

United every time for me. Two horse race between you and Chelsea - you lot for me. That only changed when you were up against Liverpool because they hadn't won it for ages and I quite liked Benitez. This season, I'm 'supporting' United for the title all the way.

The trouble is Arsenal are going to need to run to stand still. Van Persie will have a year left on his contract next summer and that'll be their last world class player on his way, like Nasri this year.

I'm not saying that they definitely won't make the top four this year, as there's a long way to go, but if they don't, I can't see them attracting the kinds of players needed to plug all these gaps.

The over 30s I think is Wenger. Flamini was no-one's fault - we actually tried to sell him before, then he had an excellent season, and left. I blame the board for Nasri given we redid about 15 contracts and managed to leave him out.

Fair enough, Alastair...and for it's worth there's a lot you say that I agree with...but asking United fans not to be ecstatic after beating they're biggest on pitch rivals for the best of two decades isn't fair. As I said, your frustrations should be aimed at the board and Mr Wenger. No one else.

Yes, the biggest problem being getting back into the Top 4 with the level of competition in the league. Teams will continue to strengthen.

If it's depressing in hindsight why wouldn't you have considered that in advance? Surely in a competition between a team with history like Spurs and money rich City you'd have been rooting for Spurs? It'd be better for football like.....

Excuse my interference pops

Flamini was on £25,000 a week and wanted double as Cesc got a raise to 80+
Not unreasonable considering the season he had just had. Milan and Juve put £90,000 on te table and left him to think about it. Wenger knew this and left it and by the time talking came Flams decided to fk off

We saved that £25,000 a week - which of course made it easier to pay the much better Eboue his £40,000 !

Arsenal weren't involved in the game - I laughed because Spurs were getting battered on their own patch, but we had nothing to do with it. If we'd have been the ones doing it, I'd have been salivating over how wonderful we were. Given we weren't involved, my focus was on Spurs.

And in answer to your second paragraph, it's difficult to think straight when you're watching a game, as I'm sure you're aware. FWIW, let's say Arsenal finished second this year, and Spurs won the league. I'd prefer that to Arsenal finishing second and City winning the league. Strange, but true.

Because you can't bring yourself to support Spurs in a one-off game, because it's human nature not to. It's like how a lot of United fans would never support Liverpool in any match, but wouldn't want them to go down, because they love the rivalry. You might not get that being from London.

Not the first time he has said that. Of course, after the first time, he then followed up with a cringeworthy apology some time later.

Come on alastair mate. If you'd won at Old Trafford and the score at whl was still the same, you'd still be laughing at us now.

It seems to have only become less of a laughing matter once you'd been trounced just as badly by the other Manchester team.

Football365 summed it up well, the biggest damnation for Wenger today wasn't the 8-2 scoreline, or the shambolically disorganised team he sent out today, but SAF's sympathy in admitting he just wanted us to stop scoring.
