They also have all the big games at home against the rivals for 4th. Chelsea, Arsenal and next up Spurs.
And with that kind of form Chelsea are in, Liverpool and Arsenal got a good chance now. Hope Spurs can keep it up to finish 3rd. |

We may have had half our squad missing, but we had had 5 days rest to prepare for the game compared to Liverpool's 2 days. We couldn't have asked for a better time to play them, and still lost.
2 big games this weekend, if Liverpool beat Tottenham at home and we beat Chelsea away that would put Liverpool just 1 point off 4th. Of course the games are as likely to go the other way. We shall see at the end of the weekend I guess. Newcastle and Arsenal could also both draw level with Chelsea if they win today and on Saturday. |

Tottenham's run in are all winnable fixtures, Chelsea is the one outlier. Arsenal have a harder run in, Chelsea have hard and easy ones.
Come on you North London Clubs! |

It'd be amazing if Chelsea finished 5th after an investment of over £120m last year. In harmony with my prediction last year though when I had been saying for entire season that they weren't as amazingly wonderful as people on here thought.

Out of interest
Does anyone know what the highest points total (and the lowest) has been for the 4th placed team over say the last 10 years? ThaT should give us some idea what the target should be My guess is 72 points should gain certain 4th spot |

76, Liverpool 2008. In the early to mid 2000's 4th place was finishing with little over 60, very early 00 and late 90's, as well as the late 00's they where finishing with 70+
Liverpool where also lowest with 60 in 2004. |

Yes but they pumped that money into a crap team and got a crap team out of it. Chelsea spent the money to improve a good side and what they got as a result is a disrupted, disorganized crap team.

Thanks for that
As the race is so close for 4th spot and given how many points have been dropped by the top sides, my guess is that 4th spot will not be as high as 76 My guess of 72 doesn't look far off Do you think I will be as prophetic as Pete who hereafter should be referred to as Prophetic Pete ("a prophet in his own land" etc) |

My football club used to take me to a few of their games, but I never really followed them. They had some good future or current players like Luke Young, Konchesky, Darren Bent, Danny Murphy, Paolo Di Canio (for one season), but the majority of their squad was probably players that looking back, where punching far above their weight.

Yep, I don't see them contending for it now. Looks like they're in their own mini battle for 6th place with Liverpool now, unless someone like Sunderland or Everton can get into the mix late on and make it a 3-horse race.

After Chelsea, Spurs have some winnable fixtures. So that should be enough for them to get third spot, especially if Arsenal struggle at Everton and at Stoke. Think they can get something at home against Manchester City, mind.

I think the Bummers will reign in the Spuds and take 3rd place ( hopefully beating City in the process....) - as for Tottingham , they need to turn things around quickly as Chelski could nick the 4th spot.
I know the Spuds fixture list looks easier after the 'Bridge, but they've always shown themselves capable of dropping points to the so called "poor" teams at home.... Squeeky Bum time for Spuds defo. As for Toon, I'm sure they'll be delighted with a European place, they have had a good season compared to their expectations, but they need to start winning again soon. |

Delighted (and amazed) at Wenger's ability to inspire a renaissance at Le Arse after such a terrible start to the season. Amazing that they are now just one point behind Spurs and more importantly, have the upward momentum fully in their dressing room. Can see them finishing 3rd and with ease. Just goes to demonstrate Wenger's class, having lost the Carling Cup last year and then 2 star players in Fabregas and Nasri in the summer.
Who knows when SAF will leave, but if the timings worked out, I'd love to have him at Old Trafford as a short term stop gap transitioning SAF leaving and a new chap coming in .... though hopefully that is still a few years away. Spurs in alot of trouble. Harry;s head is all over the place and that uncertainty has clearly filtered itself into his dressing room, reflected by their recent results. They really need to sort their shit out very quickly .... as expected, the mercenaries at Chavski have had 'the bump factor' having managed to get yet another manager sacked. I dont know why Roman just does not get on with it and make Terry Player Manager - he is anyway!) .... but Chavski have the experience to stage a late surge and sneak into 4th, leaving Spurs high and dry (good for us and we can have another go at getting Modric!). I just pray Chavski fail to make the top 4 because it will make me laugh ALOT! |

Draw was bad for Spurs. They have Chelsea at the weekend now. They were shit today but still can't see them losing to Spurs at home. So that could be at least another 2 points dropped at least. Arsenal are going to sew up the third pretty soon

A win for Chelsea against Tottenham and it's wide open, anything else and Spurs have a big advantage. But not one so big you can't see them screwing it up without trying very hard.

))Will still be over the moon if we get into Europa, mind. Definitely wasn't a pre-season expectation so to still be strong contenders there right now is great. We've really benefited from having that monster start during our leaner winter months and need to finish strong. |
