That is the worst ever. Many others make the claim, but I think this one takes it.

I remember Albert Missing a sitter for Deportivo - i cant find it on youtube though. It was a about 2 yards out, no keeper and he manages to hit the crossbar.

There was the Kanu one for West Brom, over the bar from 2 yards.

And who can forget Giggs against Arsenal and Forlan.....

Whilst I agree that is an absolutely incredible miss, this always deserves a mention in threads such as this:

I think Kanu's takes more skill though, considering he managed to lift the ball over the bar from 2 yards out.

I'd forgotten just how bad that one was. I remember watching at the time; and wondering why he blasts it instead of side footing it in.

The commentator's surprise says it all.

Another here where it looks to be on its way in before the striker somehow conspires to miss it.

I honestly think Forlans is the worst I've seen. In most of the others the player is either under some type of pressure or doesn't have too much time to react, but Forlan was jogging alone towards an unguarded goal, in a friendly (so not much pressure), and managed to put it wide.

(allright, OP still wins)

I like this one as well:

Didn't Bentner do something like that, only it was in the Champions League Quater or Semi finals?

Not as bad, but he stopped a goal that was going in

I was at that game, sat right behind the goal in the second tier with the Sheffield United fans. I'd managed to keep my mouth shut for most of the game but when Ronaldo missed that chance I jumped out of my seat screaming in disbelief. It was an uncomfortable 12 minutes or so towards the end.

P.S. that game was the best performance I've seen by Rooney. He was magic!
