Would you swap Messi for Ronnie?

Putting injuries aside, would you swap?

No. How many goals has Messi scored this season when he's played?

No. Ronaldo is a truly complete player, Messi does many things well but he is not complete.

No chance. Ronaldo is clearly the more well rounded player.

Like Rooney, Messi is more than just his goals contribution. Others will score more because he plays

I think overall, Messi is the best player, when you consider both playing at their best. But I wouldn't swap for Ronaldo, you couldn't. Ronaldo has proven himself in the Premiership, he's been on fire for two years at this club now. And he's a United player, he's establishing himself as an all time club great

I want them both!

You don't swap a worldclass player with another worldclass player. What's the point? I would swap the likes of Park and Nani.

I believe Messi will easily score 20+ goals if he stays fit, he is often in a scoring position, he has the same instinct as our Ronnie

If we ever sadly get rid of ronnie, then he'll be more than a competent replacement.

appreciating Messi has nothing to do with wanting to swap him for Ronaldo....Ronaldo imo is just a more complete player...and he is going to get better.

Not on a Manchester united forum, no.
Not to manchester united fans, no.

This is just another Ronaldo vs Messi question, but only brainless fan would say they'll swap Ronaldo for Messi (despite whoever is the better player)

And of course it's all relative as they play in different leagues which ask for different things from the players. La liga is slower, less athletic while the Premiership is faster and stronger. So Messi would not be able to handle the Premiership.

For all those saying Ronaldo is going to get better do they not think Messi can improve also? being 20 and all?

Also how could Messi not handle the prem? He has performed against the two best defences in the prem and performed fairly well so i think lesser defenders than Chelsea and United have would somehow not cope aswell?

Zarate is about as small as Messi and done ok so far in the Prem? Honestly its about the worst arguement i've ever heard.

Ronaldo couldn't cut it in spain

No, I wouldn't even think about swapping. Not many wingers are going to score you 41 goals a season. Ronaldo becoming extremely clinical is very very important to us on top of what else he offers. He can score with every part of his body he's invaluable.

On the flip side, it's understandable that Barca fans wouldn't swap their Messi for our Ronaldo either.

even IF you were to concede that they were equally as good, ronnie has settled into the squad, why disturb that?

Franco, you wouldn't seriously swap a player who has become one of the best in the world, if not the best, at your club. I think that's fair to say

The problem with these discussions is that people who probably don't even see Messi play that much come on and start spouting absolute garbage about how he goes missing, how he hasn't got A B and C to his game, how he lacks this and that, how he definately wouldn't make it in the Premiership etc. And you can't have a rational debate with these people. There are questions over Messi regarding his fitness, he has a reoccuring injury that led to him missing significant periods of the last few seasons. But his talent and his game are absolutely magnificent, I've seen teams put 3 men on him to try and negate his impact. And they still don't succeed. He's a phenomenon, and not overhyped. Hopefully he'll sort his injury problems out, and get a clean run like Ronaldo has for the last 2 years

Ah Brad, how can someone have such a superb opinion on Messi yet have no time for Fletcher!

He's the only player in the world that could ease the pain of losing Ronaldo. If we ever felt we had to let Ronnie go, Fergie, or whoever the manager is, should not do it unless they can guarantee getting this kid.

Right, so basically, Messi cannot handle the premiership, he can just handle premiership teams?
