I don't know, I play em' both here and there on PC and FIFA08 never suddenly goes super fast for me.

Try-reinstalling it? or maybe you just have a super fast laptop?

The entire game runs at speed? as in way to fast or the match its self? i'd start with the EA game forums, i'm sure someone has experienced the same thing.

Sorry mate, I should have been more specific. I downloaded FIFA 08 off my uni hub about half a year ago (i.e. I don't have the cd and thus can't reinstall it). It worked fine until a few days ago, when my friend was trying to break into my laptop administrator account without my password. He reset it in some wierd mode and it still asked for my password, but since then my FIFA 08 games go at hypo speed. (about 6 times as fast as normal). I've reset my computer a few times and everything else works fine, just my FIFA 08.

Backup the files/save games etc, usually in your my docs folder and completely uninstall it, then reinstall.

What did he use to reset the admin password? Theres a boot cd using linux you can do it with thats very good/reliable without fucking stuff up.

Could it be that somehow the vsync on the graphics card has been disabled? I don't know if that is possible, but waiting for the vertical blank is the only real way that a game designed to run on different speed processors can ensure a steady frame rate. Without being able to wait for the vertical blank, the thing will just loop as fast as the processor can handle it.

I'm having a problem with my Sony Viao Desktop.

Upon starting up it gets stuck on the initial "VIAO" screen which appears before any windows or anything. I have to let it sit for ages before it gets onto the next screen where I can hit F8 for Safe mode if I'd want to.

It may be a hardware issue I suppose?

Any ideas?

probably the hard drive playing up

have you tried resetting your BIOS defaults?

are there any weird clicking sounds coming from the hard drive?

have you added anything recently?

Get your head next to the case when you boot it up and listen for a clicking noise as advised already, if you hear it however faint, its probably a fucked hard disk.

Also check your bios and make sure first boot option is set to hard disk, otherwise it will scan the various options in the list first depending on how far down the boot list your HD is.

Hi Red. Just to let you know that the modem/router is all set up and working! No problems at all setting it up, just followed the destructions word for word and all tickety boo! Got it on Ebay for about £40. Thanks again for your help.

How can I check if the modem/router in the office is wireless or not? I've got the T-Mobile USB but not a very good signal in the office and it won't keep the laptop connected.
