So, are you on cable/adsl? Do you have a router? or modem straight into your PC?

Well, if you're giving yourself a static IP based on this guide you have been reading, make sure its in range with the scope on the router.

What router is it?

Anyway, you need to logon to the router, do this by going to http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (whatever your default gateway is), to find that go to Start, click Run, type in CMD and hit enter, type in ipconfig /all and hit enter, your default gateway will be listed.

Write down all the details, IP Address, Default Gateway, Subnet (will set its self anyway) and DNS servers (might be same as DG, may be ISP assigned).

Where you set your static IP previously, set the details you wrote down as the static IP, you shouldnt lose your internet connection now.

Now logon to the router, pray you know the username and password and in here you can setup port forwarding to your IP address.

Help needed please.

The sound on my PC has gone all weird. It sounds all echoey and tinney.

I've used the windows help program but it's no use at all.

Any ideas?

Try downloading the latest drivers from the manufacturers website first of all!

Sorted it.

My sound effects manager had set it's environment to "Sewer pipe".

WTF?? Why would anybody want that! Oh well.

Cheers Redmanc though.

Anyone having problems with proboard (or whatever this is) sites? Lately the Caf and the other forum I visit are taking ages to load. Here, the banner and down to the red stripe with User CP, Forum etc appear within a second but everything below that, there's a delay of ten seconds to over a minute.

It's really getting on me nerves. Any clues, Folks?

Well, the caf runs fine for me, the proboard host is also one who does my teams forum and i've had no issues there either. Its most likely dodgy routing with your ISP if anything.

Infra Red?

Good morning peeps!

On Sunday, I filled the photo memory on my phone and want to download the photos to my PC. I bought one of those Data Cables off Ebay (£5 as opposed to the Nokia one at £25!!) but, having tried on 3 different computers, have not been able to get it to work and I'm sending it back. I have a Nokia 6101 phone which has infra red as a possible connection, so I may be able to download the photos that way (?) How can I tell if my desktop has infra red built in?

Thanks in advance

Derek

Have a look in Control Panel, Derek, there will be Infra Red CP functionality if you've got it. Odds are you won't as it's usually a laptop thang

Thanks for your help, guys. I've looked in control panel and it's not there, so that's that scuppered! I'm going to try it one more time via infra red on my laptop. Fingers crossed!

Hi Derek,

To make your nokia cable work you need some drivers., you can get them from http://europe.nokia.com/A4144937

Fine thanks, Red. I've tried downloading Nokia PC Suite and trying it from there but, because it's not a kosha Nokia cable, it won't work.

Hope all's well at your end.

Playing internet poker at work

So I'm connected to internet via my laptop at work. I can only use Internet Explorer and I can't use any internet-related programs.

Is it possible to bypass this? (without me getting fired)

The other guys on the night shift also play online poker but they are connected to the internet via their mobile phones, an option I don't have.

Play it, I've already got it installed on my computer.

The network at work won't let me connect to the poker-site's server.
