Check Show processes from all users. Firefox may be running as a different user.

When you do you reinstalls, did you do a clean reinstall? I.e. delete your profiles. Also, which version of FF are you using?

There should be a directory in:
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Mozilla

I don't think that gets deleted automatically.

Is that serious advice, or are you taking the mick, by repeating what I've said?

How often does that happen? Does it happen every time? If not, it could just be a software problem...

But if it happens every time, couple of issues are possible...

1. The board/LED cable could be burned out. It is a small board with flatcable attatched on. Not too hard to replace. If you have already opened the machine, inspect the white flatcable physically, you will see it is burned a bit. (looks black).

2. Might just need a BIOS upgrade, so upgrade to the latest BIOS...

Thanks for the reply. Happens every time, but as I said above, i can get the lights to shut off by pressing the laptop on the left beside the touch pad. Any idea what that could be, seems like there is something loose or something like that.

Just downloaded the "FEAR Combat" game (MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIRED 64MB GeForce(TM) 4 Ti or Radeon(R) 9000 video card)

and when I try to run it it says "The video card in this computer is not supported"

I have an ancient AMD Athlon XP2000. 1.66 GHz, how do I find out what video card I have got? I heard the game is awesome but it runs only on XP and not on Vista.

edit: I got it now, I have a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440.

I am having trouble using limewire. It just doesn't connect to internet. I tried disabling the firewall, but it still doesn't work. I tried the basic version and the pro version but the same result. I was working perfectly fine till a few weeks back. Anyone else facing same problem?

Piece of advice: Limewire is shite, littered with fake files. Go for torrents or http downloads

I use torrents for films and other big files, but for music i prefer limewire. I have also found out the way the avoid fake files, so that is not a problem.
Can you tell me any websites for http music downloads if you are aware of any?

Limewire works quite good actually, the only thing is sometimes it need up to 10 minutes to establish the connection. Eventually it connects. The bottom, left corner is the green instead of red. I also thought it doesnt work but it's just that you have to wait for a while. Dont know why.

It's not a very good idea to simply install Vista on top of XP. Can be a disaster ranging from your existing software not working to reducing you computer to a piece of junk.

Then again, you might get lucky and everything will work perfectly after the install.

Search around for rapidshare, megaupload, sharezilla, etc. etc. links on forums like www.warez-bb.org. There's www.mp3fusion.net, www.airmp3.net. I've used these in the past, but stick to torrents.

Depends if you do a clean install, in which case you have to reinstall everything back again, or an upgrade, in which case you don't. I did an upgrade install, so all my software stayed on the computer. You may find there is some compatibility issues with a couple of the softwares, but they are releasing updates by the day to make them Vista compatible. Alternatively, you can just get the newest version of the software and they should be 99.9% compatible with Vista.

So it looks like i have to go for upgrade. The reason being i have some very big softwares installed at the moment which will just take forever to reinstall them again.
Btw there are some softwares installed but i have not got a backup copy of it. Is it possible to create a back up from the currently installed software then?

For some reason, i haven't been able to stream youtube videos or anything of the sort for quite some time with any real success and it's getting incredibly frustrating. Videos simply do not stream for me anymore.

Any ideas?

Make sure you have flash player installed.
If it still happens then i reckon your internet speed is too slow.
Just try another internet browser as well, i might make a difference.

What do you use? Firefox?

Try re-installing the latest flash player?

I have some problems recently where some of the images don't load up until I click refresh a few times. Cleared out all the temp stuff and all that as well. Think it might have been that last update in Firefox I did. Anyone else have the same problems?

No luck unfortunately but cheers anyways.
I'm actually using Speedbit Video accelerator now which helps in some cases.

I'm now pretty sure the reason why this is happening is due to my computer realising that the version of windows installed is fake. Fuck knows how i got a fake version of windows........
