Just now installed Norton and something called phishing control came along with that and sat on top of my address bar.

Initially thought twas harmless yet its not allowing me now to view youtube?

Any way to view youtube without fiddling with the AV?

Start using Firefox rather than IE. It will work perfectly. Also make sure you have flash player installed.

Many say that, but i disagree. I have used AVG, which led to a complete hack of my pc, had Kaspersky which slows the pc right down. No problems with Norton at all ever since i had it.

You seem to have found a way of getting around the whole 'spacebar does not work' yourself... If it really bothers you get a screwdriver and put it under the space bar key and pop it up to see if its broken. (which it probably will be if you do that)

It's almost impossible for me to watch any video clips, they're so feckin slow! I think it's to do with the latest AVG free 8.0.138, all was OK till aaround the time I updated from the old version. Anyone else having similar problems, or got any idea how to fix?

I had similar problem as well, which i think is due to the web monitoring thing. Kaspersky made my whole machine slow down, but things have been running smooth since i went back to Norton (which majority hate).

I already had the Macafee site adviser add-on for Firefox, so I disabled the link scanner, but it didn't make any difference. I've had Norton before & wouldn't use it again, but cheers anyway.

Anyone else got any ideas?

What's exactly the problem? Can you describe it in more detail?

I'll try. Every time I try to play a youtube clip it keeps stopping as the red bar that shows the loading progress goes really slow. Before the red bar used to go up a lot quicker than the vid played. Does that make sense?

Is it specific to youtube? Because youtube is having issues lately. Don't think AVG has anything to do with it.

Try directly downloading a youtube video instead of viewing it through the browser and see if it's still slow.

Some people have had problems with the new AVG as it comes with a lot more extras than the previous version that can effect browsing. Try turning or uninstalling some of the stuff you don't need and stick to the bare virus checker. I still have the previous version as its still doing the job and still gets updated.

Saying that Justin is right about youtube, it can be abit picky. I've had the same problems as you have described and they went away over time. At the moment youtube for me doesn't always load the video first time. I have to refresh the page for it to load...

Microsoft Update Service Pack 3

Hi Guys

I wonder if anybody can help. When I got in to work this morning, there were Service Pack 3 updates and installations showing on my PC (I use Windows XP) I let it do it's thing and, eventually, it was updated and installed (although it did take about an hour all together. It then re-started itself as it should have. BUT, the screen is now too big, if you see what I mean. I can see the "-" square, at the top rhs of screen, but can't see the "maximise" or "close" squares. I can't scroll down using the bar at the rhs of the screen, because I can't see it! Also, the font appears to be slightly blurred.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the advice, Sparky. Strangely enough, it seems to have sorted itself out. Spooky.

My laptop was handed in for repairs today.

The screen wouldn't respond, I think it's programmed for an external display. Rebooted the comp but the screen just wouldn't give any signal of life whatsoever. Anybody know what this is about? It's a HP dv9500 and it worked with HDMI to the TV, the screen was displayed there.
