Well, I've already checked ram.

Anyway the system hasn't frozen for 3 hours of using, this after I reduced the CPu core speed to 1.4 Ghz. Ans Somehow the hard disk isn't heating up as it did earlier, I don't know what happened there.

Edit :Fuck, it's happened again.

@girish Try reinstalling your OS. Check if your fans are fucked. Do a memory check. If everything is fine, then it is a problem with incomptible hardware like Lan Card.

Hi fellas, I pulled out, the processor and heatsink, and put it back. Looks like it works fine. I'm gonna run it for a long time continuously, to see what happens......

If the hard disk is sound( try another one in there )

Have you tried updating the bios??

You'll be surprised what sort of lock ups an outdated version can cause

Yeah doesn't sound too nasty.

As long as you have moved it to the vault - prob best to just delete it from there as well - run a scan on the system to make sure like.

Don't use Internet Explorer Tommy. Get firefox. It is much safer.

probably was embedded in a script in the website and downloaded silently when you visited the site.

Try deleting it and see if it comes back. Generally i find that virus checkers are only good for telling you when its time to reformat :P

Adblock Plus: allows you to right-click on an advert and block it forever.
Direct link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865

Flashblock: any flash content (youtube) has to be clicked on first to bring it up in the browser before playing. Not really needed but it is useful to me.

There are other add-ons on the site if you want to explore. Either way these add-ons can be installed and uninstalled if you don't want them.

PS. Install this SpywareBlaster, its a small very useful program that I and plenty of others use and will give a little bit of protection against some adaware/spyware on the net, in addition to AVG.

Moving to Firefox was the best thing to do though.

Could be various problems. Can you access these sites through proxies, such as GigaProxy.

An alternative would be to use OpenDNS.
