Which version of WMP?

Probably easier to just use VLC player rather than trying to figure out what's wrong.

Version 10. I have been using VlC/BSplayer for listening to music/videobut for programs like TVUplayer and Sopcast they need a working WMP otherwise the video doesn't start working.

Oh, seen this problem with sopcast. You can try upgrading to WMP11 if you have a genuine version of Windows. Otherwise, try to uninstall WMP as well as those streaming programs before reinstalling everything.

Ole, is there any pattern to the beeps?

eg. a few short then a few long?

also what are the other symptons? anything appear on the monitor? does it power down again? do the keyboard lights flash and stay on or go off?

14 beeps in total high-low-high-low...

Nothing appears on the screen, keyboard lights do flicker as they normally should.

Award BIOS Beep Codes
Award BIOS uses beeps of varying duration. A long beep will typically last for 2 seconds while a short beep will last only 1 second. Award BIOS also uses beeps of different frequency to indicate critical errors. If an Award BIOS detects that the CPU is overheating it may play a high pitched repeating beep while the computer is running.

BEEP CODE-----------------MEANING--------------POSSIBLE CAUSE

1 Long, 2 Short-----------Video adapter failure----Bad video adapter

Repeating (Endless loop)---Memory error----------Bad memory or bad connection

1 Long, 3 Short-----------Video adapter failure----Bad video adapter or memory

High freq. beeps (while running)-CPU is overheating--CPU fan failure

Repeating High, Low beeps--CPU failure-------------Bad processor

If the beeps are varying in pitch it's a critical error. Possibly a CPU failure.

I have heard rumours that once you have installed Vista, you cannot reformat and downgrade it to XP, is it true?

I want to watch a DIVX video on stage6 but my comp doesn't have the plugin and I'm not allowed to download stuff on this comp (work place). I tried installing the Divx player and firefox on a USB drive but it still didn't work. Anyone know any workarounds?

dodgy copy of windows mate, sorry!
i can tell u how to stop this nonsense if you want... there's this data file which u can't delete... so u simply find it's registration keys, alter them, save them and you're fecking laughing ...

other R click>new>data file>(don't select anything and it'll be a blank data file... now, delete the file

sod it#, i'll post link on how to remove WGA...

fuck it
cant be asked
i just deleted the registry keys after modifying them
then i deleted the associated files
and badabingbadaboom...

look around, it's easy to remove if u know where the files are...

If you pc is set up correctly there should be a folder c:\windows\minidump\

The files in it have the extension .dmp

If the folder doesn't exist then search the hard drive for any files with that extension

Use a tool call WinDbg to debug it, once it has sebugged it, it will tell you EXACTLY which driver is causing the problem, if it in fact a driver

WinDbg tool and instructions can be found on MS site

Couldn't this just be fixed by installing windows again?

What does the blue screen say? Does it mention a .dll, .sys, .ini or a .drv file or anything? If it does, that'll be the rogue driver/file.

Another possible cause could be faulty ram or an overheating CPU.

That doesn't matter, find the most recent and continue to debug with WinDbg

İ have a problem with my laptop. The mouse cursor just suddenly froze so İ tried restarting. When it came back on the cursor was still frozen doesnt move. The touch pad has lost its function İ think and although İ inserted a mouse it still didnt move the cursor. Any tips on how to get the mouse cursor to work?

Bare in mind my stupid cousin was playing with all the keyboard buttons and what nots so İm thinking he some how managed to get the cursor locked or somethıing. Any help will be hugely appreciated.

Thanks.

Upgrade the BIOS, see if that helps, it usually solves a multitude of 'Freezing' problems

Is there a way to turn the sound on and off when using flash in a browser.

I was playing curveball and in the middle the sound just turned off. It's not in just that game either its everything that uses flash - checked on other sites and no sound.

No my computer is not on mute and no my speaker's are not turned down. And yes I have re-installed flash. I tried to right click and go into settings but there is nothing there about audio. I have tried in both browsers (IE and Firefox - I was using Firefox at the time)

Anyone know how to sort it .... pleeeeeeaaaaaaase!?

EDIT - Not even youtube has sound now !
