Just been looking RE: soundtrack and the Strokes and the soundtrack. The Storkes are signed to Rough Trade records as far as I can see, and they are less than likely to to be able to afford to pay for PP in a big budget movie like Transformers. It was more likely a deliberate ploy by the directors to give you an indication as to Sam's character, as we don't get much time to find out.

I do know that most major brands will have a department that basically scans new movie scripts to identify opportunities to place their products in.

I don't actually find it annoying. Does anyone remembers TV shows in the past that featured look-a-like products - same packaging, slightly different name - instead of the actual products? I thought these were far more jarring and annoying.

Watched Cast Away yesterday. Saw the FedEx logo about a 1000 times

But I read this on IMDB:

Contrary to popular belief, FedEx did not pay the filmmakers anything for their presence in the movie. The director has made this clear in a number of interviews.

Ok, its getting near that time, when you people can help me in a token way by filling out a questionaire. Its not done yet, this is merely a heads up, but it'd really mean a lot if a decent number of youse could take five minutes and fill one out, cos in a few weeks, it really needs to happen..

the support in this thread btw is greatly recieved.

Wes.

In "Return of the Killer Tomatoes" halfway through, they run out of money so in the next scene the actors are trying to sell everything around them; drinks, cereal, chocolate bars etc. Very funny.

Is that in any way interesting?

The Golden Child and Double Team have the most blatant product placements I can recall. Both Pepsi, I think.

I, Robot

With Will Smith and his new trainers

Especially the part where he fights about 600 robots, destroying everything in sight, then afterwards, looks down at his still shiney new trainers, and starts nodding his head

I don't know whether you can use tv programs too but there is an episode of 30 Rock that deals with a similar issue, they're writers and there boss is making them use placements in there show. The episode is called Jack-tor and if your interested I can get you a stream of it to take a look at.

Casino Royale has absolutely shocking product placement. Every single device repeatedly gets shown in close ups as they are being used.
