First car

I'm 17 in November and I'm looking round at cars at the moment. Don't have a lot of money as I'm a mere lowly student. I don't need anything special, just to get me to college and places.

Was thinking of something like a Clio, what's reccommended by the caf? What was your first car? Answer honestly!

Go for a 206, it can't be beaten for its work rate, plus if you went for a 2002 to 2006, you could get yourself a bargain, I had to buy 4 and they are very good cars for local deliveries

if your going to uni?... dont get a car... the tax and isnurance is a huge chunk to find when your a student... plus you will rarely be sober enough to drive it...

or alternativley you are a spolied little kid who likes to plead poverty bit mummy and daddy will buy you a car and then insure it for you...

failing all that buy something cheep with low insurance... look on autotrader... lots of bargin cars at the moment as people cant get car finance and lots of people are desperate to sell

oh and i had a clio... didnt like it that much but when i speared into a central reservation at 100 (oops sorry officer 70...) and walked away without a scratch i suddenly had a lot of respect for that little clio...

My first car at 17 was a '04 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 SXi

Very reliable car, they're fairly quick, very good on petrol, and the insurance wasn't too high compared to other cars in the same price range. I sold mine at the beginning of the year.

I won't be going to Uni, and I've just started 2 years at college. No chance of my parents paying anything towards it.

Was looking at a 206 today, looks like a decent bet.

My Uncle Oswald let me drive one of his Kubelwagen's around for a summer, although I was too young to get a license. Loved that car
