edit: oh sorry I think I misread what you said. Yeah you may be right but this routine has got me pumped up so I'm not going to quit it. There are other opinions and ways to plan your training ofcourse, but like I said this one has worked out for me, it may not work for someone else. |

Once upon a time I did 4 days a week..
Monday - Shoulders, 9 sets, 2 different exercises, max 6-8 reps per set. 5 sets of squats, 6-8 reps, 4 sets of dead lifts.. Wednesday - Chest, flat bench, 5 sets, incline 4 sets, flies (or cables) 4 sets. Biceps 6 sets, 2 different exercises, triceps same. Friday - Back, bent over wide rows X 5 sets, dumbell rows, 4 sets, lat pull down 4 sets. 20 minute run Saturday morning, 30 minute light run, rower and bike... I did that for 5 years. At my best I weighed about 22 stone, was benching about 120K with no spot, squatting 170K, and dead lifting 180K.... I trained with 2 of Ireland strongest men, one now holds a powerlifting world record. Stopped doing big weights about 2 years ago, now just concentrate on cardio twice a week with 30 mins of light weights afterwards. |

120K not really big weights for benching, though, Eyepopper. I think 150K+ is. |

"better shape" btw. I obviously don't mean that literally.
Being a skinny git who can't run 100 metres without having a heart attack doesn't count as being healthy I would do this if the weights were to appear or just happen to be next to me, however, I'm not prepared to walk over to some weights in order to do so. |

I'm awful, unless i get some sort of enjoyment out of it i have absolutely no desire to exercise. People who go to the gym or just go out a "run" confuse me.
Give me a game, football, tennis. Any game involving running and i'll probably get a bit fitter but to just run? why????! i can't be bothered with that. Saying that as you can imagine i am not very fit. A game of football once a week usually (not played in a few), some tennis occasionally and the odd skiing trip (which ruins my knees so that i cant exercise for weeks after getting back and then it still is uncomfortable but doctors tend to say "rest"). |

But loads of chubby people at work and most of them claim to be in the gym 5 days a week. I find it weird. |

that is fair enough, the key to this is to create the illusion of hard exercise without having to actually do any. the beauty of it is that you can use it for anything. if you find yourself standing next to a steep hill you can shout "that was a steep hill, i don’t fancy sprinting up and down it again" at strangers as they pass by. the possibilities are endless.

I run because otherwise I worry about keeping myself healthy, and keeping active is nowhere near as tedious as having to monitor what you eat all the time. I used to play rugby, which was perfect. If you weren't fit you'd get found out big time. The only problem being that I found it boring, and then my dad started playing again, for the same club, which weirded me out. |

They think they're keeping fit, but in reality, I probably get more excercise than them just by walking to work everyday. I'm far from thin either, but I have to keep myself in some kind of health, otherwise I get paranoid about gradually getting fatter and fatter, until I can't run at all, and walk like a penguin carrying a seesaw Fat people |

I've never played football with my dad, although my brother has, he's pushing for 60 and still plays once a week. He's fitter than me, quite embarassing. |
