It does not hurt but feels very strange.

Do I pull it off (that's what she said) or let nature take it's course?

What does under a toenail look like?

This happened to my mrs a few year back... it was open like a car bonnet, took 9 months to grow back, it's going to hurt for a bit.

i hope you took my advice duffer, i did something similar when i had an urinary infection and i have never looked back.

Leave it how it is, let nature take its course.
A new nail will grow underneath with the top layer being shed, it pretty cool, its just like how a snake sheds its skin. Removing the nail increases the chance of infection.
