My external hdd is dead!
After I moved to a new apartment, my external hard drive has not been able to "start up" and mount, although it powers up. There's just a click-click sound from the inside of it. It's a Western Digital MyBook.
Bought it initially as a back-up disk, but since my internal harddrive couldn't contain more files I've been using it as the iTunes music library and as a destination folder for music recordings. My greatest fear is that I no longer can get those files. Immediately thought that I might be able to click and drag the music on my iPod to another external hard drive and then import these files into iTunes. But don't even see those weirdly named files and folders iTunes creates on any iPod. What to do? ![]() |

1) Chances are the data is still on there.
2) You are only able to use your ipod as a hdd, if you select it to be used as a hdd. When the iPod is in this mode you are unable to listen to the music. |
